Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ GODZILLA dropped out of the top 10 at the domestic box office as newcomer TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION posted a massive $301.3 million worldwide debut. Opening in 3,952 theaters across the United States on May 16th, GODZILLA saw the number of locations slashed in the following weeks as newer films were released. This past weekend the movie played at 750 theaters, down from 1365 the previous week. As the number of theaters continues to dwindle, GODZILLA will struggle to reach $200 domestic though Warner Bros. may keep the film in release long enough to pass that benchmark. With just over $488 million worldwide, GODZILLA is still on pace to pass the half-billion dollar mark not long after the film opens in Japan. Toho will release GODZILLA there on July 25th.
