The movie "Hokusai's Daughter" is the first Japan film to depict the life of O-Ei (Katsushika Oi), the daughter of Katsushika Hokusai, the legendary painter who created "Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji" and "The Great Wave Off Kanagawa".  It was released theatrically in Japan on October, 17th, 2025. Nikkatsu Corporation is now handling international sales. HOKUSAI’S DAUGHTER was written and directed by Tatsushi Omori (THE WHISPERING OF THE GODS, MOTHER), and is based on the biography The Life of Katsushika Hokusai by Koshin Iijima and the manga Miss Hokusai by Hinako Sugiura.
