Toho has provided information and images for the live action feature film SAKAMOTO DAYS (サカモト デイズ, Sakamoto Deizu), which opens in Japanese cinemas this Wednesday, April 29th.

The movie is based on the wildly popular manga by Yuto Suzuki, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in November 2020 and has since surpassed 15 million copies in worldwide circulation. An action story that blends the mundane with the extraordinary, it follows Taro Sakamoto, a former legendary hitman, as he engages in fierce battles against a relentless stream of assassins in order to protect the ordinary, everyday life he shares with his beloved family. With the TV anime adaptation premiering in 2025—and garnering astounding viewership numbers on Netflix—the series enjoys a strong following from a broad audience, both in Japan and abroad.

The new movie stars actor/singer Ren Meguro from the idol group Snow Man as Taro Sakamoto. He will deliver a masterful performance portraying the character's duality: on one hand, the "Sakamoto" who appears as a portly figure (estimated at 140kg/309 lbs) possessing overwhelming strength and a gentle, embracing nature; and on the other, the "Sakamoto" who—when shifting into "serious mode"—regains glimpses of his former self as the ultimate assassin and instantly slims down to a sleek, slender physique.

A star-studded ensemble of talented actors has assembled for this project, including Fumiya Takahashi (KAMEN RIDER ZERO-ONE), Aya Ueto (AZUMI, THERMAE ROMAE), Mayu Yokota (RE/MEMBER, GAZING AT THE STAR NEXT DOOR), Akihisa Shiono (KYORYUGER), Keisuke Watanabe (KAMEN RIDER ZI-O), Hinako Sakurai, Shintaro Anzai, Junki Totsuka (KAMEN RIDER WIZARD), Yusei Yagi (GAZING AT THE STAR NEXT DOOR), Meru Nukumi (TOKYO MER: Mobile Emergency Room - NANAKAI MISSION), Takumi Kitamura (TOKYO REVENGERS), Shinya Kote (TOKYO MER: Mobile Emergency Room - THE MOVIE), Koji Kato (GODZILLA VS MEGAGUIRUS), and Kenjiro Tsuda (SHIN ULTRAMAN).

Taking the helm as director is Yuichi Fukuda—a comedic genius who took the film industry by storm with the *Gintama* series, sparked a social phenomenon with FROM TODAY, IT’S MY TURN!!: THE MOVIE (今日から俺は!!劇場版, Kyō Kara Ore Wa!! Gekijō Ha, 2020), which grossed over 5.4 billion yen, and is renowned for his unique brand of comedy. Production is handled by CREDEUS, the studio behind hits such as the *Kingdom* series and *Golden Kamuy*. To top it all off, the film's theme song has been confirmed as "BANG!!" by Snow Man!

This spring, a monumental, full-scale action-entertainment masterpiece is born!

    Story

Taro Sakamoto—a former hitman once hailed as the "greatest in history" feared by all villains, and revered by all hitmen—

But one day, after falling head over heels in love with a convenience store clerk named Aoi, he abruptly retired from the trade!

Having married, welcomed a daughter, and settled into life as the proprietor of a mom-and-pop store in a quiet town, Sakamoto has... gained so much weight that he bears absolutely no resemblance to his former self!

Yet, his ordinary life is turned upside down when a staggering 1 billion yen bounty is suddenly placed on his head. Now, assassins from across the globe begin to converge on Sakamoto's store...

To protect his beloved family and his peaceful, everyday life—and without ever taking another human life— he wages a fierce, life-or-death battle against the dangerous enemies closing in on him!
