OHMSS is a great one too.

Pretty much everything until Diamonds Are Forever was great, and then it started to be shaky from there on. Moore had like 2-3 good ones, Dalton's were brillaint, then Brosnan fumbled with only 1 worthwhile entry, and Craig has had 2 of the best of the franchise, and 2 average ones.

As for the books, Jurassic Park's book was better than the movie. So was Lost World.

Never read the books to The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, or Jaws. Have no intention of ever doing so either.

While I somewhat agree, my thought is why even bother adapting it if you aren't going to be faithful to the source material.

Okay, I do need to speak on The Shining though. Kubrick's movie is amazing despite the changes, but there are issues I do have with it. Like Nicholson was not a good Torrence. I was never convinced he wasn't insane at all. Steven Weber's performance in the TV adaptation was far superior because the man felt like he was going mad. On the other hand, Kubrick's version is always atmospheric, suspensful, and full of tension while the TV one takes forever for anything to happen. Also, the effects are pretty bad. Oh, and the guy that hires Jack in the beginning of the TV version is a total "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!".

Split - This movie was fantastic! It was very atmospheric, kept you on the edge of your seat, and was well acted. McAvoy was down right stunning in his role and none of his characters felt like they were the same person. I'm curious to know how many times he had to practice each persona to get them all different. Adding to it, Joy gives us another joyful (pun intended) performance as the lead female. She truly pulls off her role with just as much finess as McAvoy does, sometimes to an even greater extent once you learn her backstory through a bunch of flashback scenes. On the other hand, the flashback scenes can sometimes feel out of place as if they were put in there at the last minute to extend the run time, but they do work well with her character and it does bring more power to the film's final bits. Also, the very last scene of the movie adds more depth to it, but I can not say anything else or it will spoil everything. In the end, top notch acting and music really drive this thriller and Shamylan is back at the top of his game. I'm a bit split on whether or not I give this a 8 or a 9/10, but it is definitely a must see.

Diamonds are Forever - It's not "good" but it's a LOT of fun. Especially Mr. Wynt and Mr. Kidd. Overall just an enjoyable ride so it's kind of easy to forgive its many flaws.

Live and Let Die - Kind of the opposite of Diamonds are Forever to me. It's okay...so it becomes a little hard to forgive all its flaws. The finale certainly redeems the movie overall, but I'm not sure how much I'd want to return to this one.

Watched Godzilla, King of the Monsters! on Svengoolie. It's kinda interesting how the earlier parts of the movie are really Burr-intensive, but as the movie goes along the original Japanese cast and their story (who's parts were severely truncated in the earlier parts of the movie) takes precedent and Raymond Burr becomes more of a narrator.

My ranking for Moore's Bond (like you though, I don't care for him):

Live and Let Die
The Spy Who Loved Me
The Man with the Golden Gun
For Your Eyes Only
A View to a Kill (pretty much enjoy it because of Walken)
Octopussy (god this movie is so dull)
Moonraker (worst Bond movie ever)

Thankfully I have no nostalgia since I saw the movies for the first time in 2007.

X-Men Apocalypse - Nope, still sucks. The stuff with Stryker is absolutely pointless and takes away from Apocalypse, who receives absolutely no character development whatsoever. Archangel sucks ass. Psylocke sucks ass and is not even British. Storm is left underdeveloped once again. Nobody looks like they have aged at all even though it's supposed to be 20 years after First Class. Scott and Alex's dad is not Corsair and their mom is alive (not to mention they don't look old enough to have a near 40 year old kid). Scott and gang going to the mall was pointless. Not to mention they specifically say the third movie always sucks. which guess what movie? THAT APPLIES TO YOU TOO!!!! Take out Magneto's daughter and wife and it is X3 all over again. Jennifer Lawrence also phoned her entire performance in. I still hate the fact that Stryker had the gang in a room that nulls out their mutant powers but she is still able to stay in Jennifer Lawrence form. The worst part though is that Apocalypse is not even remotely intimidating. Hell, he is shorter than some of his own Horsemen and I'm supposed to believe he is some god? Gerald Butler in Gods of Egypt was more of a god than Apocalypse. I could go on forever with how piss poor this movie is, but I've already wasted 5 hours on this piece of "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" film. Forget what I said back in May, Batman vs Superman was better than this garbage dump. I give it a 5/10.

They specifically state there's a field BLOCKING them...Jean can use her powers, but she can't use them outside of the room because it's a BARRIER. Nightcrawler cant teleport put because it's a barrier. Quicksilver CAN run, but it's worthless/pointless to do so in that situation

It's a barrier, not a nullifying beam or whatever. It doesn't cancel powers, it blocks them from leaving the room

Sadako vs. Kayako

Hey, it does what it says on the box.

You know, I can't help but feel this movie has a strong kinship with Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man: both primarily focus on one monster (The Wolf Man and Sadako), have the second monster as a subplot (Frankenstein and Kayako), and only have the two wind up together duking it out in the last ten minutes or so. Balance may have helped, with a little less Sadako and a bit more Kayako. I also feel once Sadako becomes unrestrained from her basic, iconic limited actions (crawling out from the well, then out of the TV), as she does here, she looses a bit of mystique, while Kayako and her son Toshio are naturally more free as long as they retain their iconic movements and sound effects.

The lead actress from Godzilla vs. Megagurius appears as the mom of a teenage girl in this, making me feel old.

Phantasm

Been meaning to see this film for a while, and I knew I better get on it now because my free trail of Shudder only lasts a week! This is low budget horror filmmaking at it's best: even with a lot of non-professionals in the cast the characters are likable; the storyline is often inexplicable but always interesting and entertaining; lots of neat, moody visuals; and Angus Scrimm's Tall Man is easily superior to the many other more popular movie boogeymen (who will remain nameless) of the '70s/'80s/'90s period.

For Your Eyes Only - Somewhere along the line it occurred to me that I'd actually seen this one before. That says a lot about how memorable it is. This one's a dull snoozer.

Octopussy - For people with a peripheral awareness of the franchise (like me heading into this) this is a fairly recognizable name. It's unfortunate then that it's such a lackluster movie.

A View to a Kill - Certainly by this point, Moore should absolutely have no longer been playing Bond (hell, that's something I could say beginning with For Your Eyes Only), and this movie has some really low points (the LAZY arc for Grace Jones' character May Day? or whatever her name is, really sucks) but Walken is an inspired choice for a Bond villain. It's really too bad everything else around him is lacking because this is a performance that could be one for the books in a better movie. I imagine a villain this strong in something like Live and Let Die, which was just kind of okay to me, would really have made that movie pop. Put a villain of this caliber in From Russia with Love and it'd probably be my favorite Bond movie. Walken alone might make this one I ultimately revisit down the line.

The Living Daylights - I can see how they felt they needed to ground the series a bit after the last several films, but this one is boring. Dalton is a good Bond, but it's such a pedestrian plot and film, it's unremarkable.

License to Kill - Better. The villain is lacking, but since this is about Bond getting revenge it's okay. I like Q in the field, and the flip in the story from Bond trying to figure things out to him basically knowing what he has to do but the villain being unaware, it's enjoyable. Unfortunately, the girl is pretty annoying. Overall a good entry though.

GoldenEye - Really good. Strikes the right balance of tones, and has a solid villain (a couple actually), and Brosnan is a solid Bond. He's a little too Moore for my tastes, a little too suave without being believable as a badass killer, but overall this is one of the better entries, despite some parts not aging all that well.

The visuals for the opening credits montage in A View to a Kill always make me laugh. When the cutout Bond rises up like something out of a carnival shooting gallery and then shoots a small animated blip from his gun I loose it.

Lego Batman - Nothing I can say will describe how phenomenally brilliant this movie is. It is absolutely wonderful and mocks every since Batman troupe there is. Add on top the countless number of one liners this has (it is probably the most quotable movie in years) and you have what could already be the best animated movie of the year. A solid 9/10.

Godzilla Raids Agan (or, more accurately: Gigantis the Fire Monster) on Svengoolie. Man, so many weird lines in this Americanization! I've always held that this is the most appropriate Godzilla film for MST3K because of the mileage they could get out of the bizarre dialog.
