Love the new trailer. :D

Jomei/Jimpluff mentioned on his blog that he read some early reviews - and they sounded very positive.

Map marking Godzilla Resurgence's worldwide distribution. It seems to confirm there's already a US (and Canadian and Mexican) distributor!

More new stuff in this TV piece:

I'm really impressed with what I'm seeing. I've been set at cautious optimism for a while now, but the trailers and TV spots have really exceeded my expectations, and with distribution news coming soon I'm at full hype mode!

I gotta say, Godzilla looks absolutely ludicrous when trying to walk (as predicted).

Some of the new clips are cool. I'm still very much looking forward to however good or bad this ends up being.

This is all looking better every day!

I was no fan of the design early on, but the more I see, the more I like. Picking up the first of the Bandai Shin-G vinyls also helped me warm up to the design...a nicely detailed figure. I knew there were whale bones or something wrapped around the end of the tail, but I did not realize it had such a well-defined head, face, and mouth. It'd be hilarious if that mouth fired a beam as well! Really looking forward to seeing what role that plays in the movie...if any. It'd be even more hilarious if it was never utilized or even mentioned AT ALL. I find that hard to believe, though, as much as they've been pushing it in our faces.

As for the stiffness and lack of movement, YES, THANK YOU, TOHO! I think that's PERFECT for Godzilla. As I wrote back in April:

"I like his stiffness, the slow movement, the feeling of immense weight and power. I don't like quick-moving "kibbles & bits" Godzillas, like GINO or Final Wars. Godzilla should NEVER run, EVER. Godzilla is HUGE, and huge things are slow."

I'm not sure what the "slow Godzilla is boring" crowd actually wants...tail-sliding G74? Building-hoppping G98? Soccer-playing G04? For me, the best iterations so far are G54, then G84~G91. From what I've seen of G16 so far, it's EXACTLY what I want, movement-wise. Huge, slow, foreboding, unstoppable. G is taking his time. He's in no hurry to get anywhere. I like his "walk cycle", too. Works for me!

All we need is a good story, and I'll be very happy with this.

Moon, how do your Japanese friends feel about the trailers? Have you caught any early reviews?

Slow is, fine, I guess, but this thing doesn't MOVE (that we've seen thus far). No arm movement, no turning, no bending, it just walks straight. I don't like it, especially because I personally have always liked the notion that while he is naturally a plodding, deliberate creature, he can move with an unpredictable speed and ferocity when he wants (Mothra vs Godzilla is pretty much perfect in this regard. Slow and deliberate, but when the tower falls on him, he lashes out). I can't picture this incarnation lashing out. I feel like, if it fell down somehow (like the elaborate traps they used to set in the 60s movies) that'd be it. Trap it in a big hole. End of movie.

It's almost as if they hired Jacques Demy to cut this new trailer and that Demy brought Michel LeGrand in to score it.
I love it.

One thing I'll say in this movie's favor, on the effects side: they're accomplishing what Tezuka was trying to get done in GxMG but failed at, namely making Godzilla look immune to attack and unphased by anything thtown at him.
Tezuka did it by having Godzilla stand still. Anno is accomplishing it by having Godzilla's progress unaffected by the gunfire.
That much is working here that didn't work for GxMG

In addition to the image of the newspaper Ihb412 found, Yahoo Japan is confirming Godzilla Resurgence for North America as well:

I love how they're blasting Godzilla in the face in one of the scenes in the trailer, that's something we haven't seen before! :D

I think I may need to be cryo-frozen until this movie is available to see in the U.S.

August is reporting that Shin-Gojira's purple charge is Anno's tribute to Prince, who he was a big fan of.

This is actually the first bit of Godzilla music I've felt was cinematic since the Heisei scores. Not a fan of Otani or Oshima's scores.

I liked the music from the first trailer.

But, not liking Oshima's scores? I think they're awesome. She's possibly my favorite composer aside from Ifukube.

Otani and Oshima are both great.

I'm super excited that Oshima is doing an original score for the fan made Godzilla anime coming out too. Can't wait to hear new Kaiju music from her.
