Ended up watching CNN's airing of the documentary Steve Jobs: The Man in the Machine. Found it very interesting, but kind of unfocused. The film seemed to shift its approach to Jobs every so often as they went to the next chronological topic and never we're able to give a cohesive handle on this guy.

Bone Tomahawk - Wow this movie. Be forewarned this is a horror film, if i had known that i would NOT have watched it with Mrs Klen7, she's fine with violence in films, but the sadism and gore was a bit much.

The first act could have used some tightening, but the characters, the dialogue, the setting, the tone... everything is pitch perfect. I would love to see this writer/director take on something outside of the horror realm just for the dialogue and banter throughout the film. I might need to see it again (because having Mrs Klen7 on the verge of tears going "oh why! why?!?" made for a lot of pausing and turning down the volume.)

So i'd give the first act a 'B+', the second act an 'A' and the third act a "TBD". Overall very impressed, but was not prepared for the depths of the third act.

Dial M for Murder - This was an absolutely fantastic movie and one I look forward to the eventual rewatch. The fact that the movie focused on the villain also gave it a different feel than I would have ever expected. It may not be anywhere near Hitchcock's best work, but it is close. The only downside to the movie is that WB could have really done a better job at remastering it since there is A LOT of blurry and soft images for a BD. Nevertheless, I give the movie a solid 8/10 stars.

Stretch - Don't know why I haven't seen this before, but I guess I didn't realize Joe Carnahan directed. Definitely my kind of movie.

The Revenant - All of the buzz around Dicaprio is well done because he is absolutely fantastic in this. The acting is extremely top notch but the star of the show is the camera work. From what I have been told, the scenes were shot in natural light and the pay off is really worth it. The scenery is down right gorgeous and the long shots during the few battle scenes are a true sight to behold. All of this is enhanced by a stellar soundtrack that fits each moment of music quite well to the point that sometimes it feels like you are watching the cut scenes to a video game. Unfortunately, the movie is far from perfect as it does drag a little and despite how gritty and realistic everything is, it can come off a tad boring at times to the point that I'm not sure how much replay value this movie may have. Nonetheless, while it may not be the best movie of 2015, but it is certainly up there with an 8/10 stars.

The Prophecy - its been a while since I've seen this but boy does this movie scream 90s. There are two reasons to watch this, Christopher Walken as Gabriel and Viggo Mortenson as Lucifer. I've never seen the sequels, so maybe I'll check them out

Poltergeist remake - Boy was this movie a load of ****. Did they even bother watching the original before they decided to remake it, or did they just watch the trailer for the good scenes? The family was not even remotely likable and the boy was super annoying. None of them actually felt like they were acting, they were just reading their lines. Also, there was way too much CGI and the movie never even actually built up anything before starting the scares, which were all pretty much jump scares. There were maybe 3 funny lines the entire movie, but I can't even remember what they were at this point, so clearly they were forgettable. This is easily one of the worst movies of 2015 and I'm not even that big of a fan of the original. Oh, also add this to the list of remakes that just insult their originals. I give this piece of basement dung a 3/10 and that is only because the psychic dude was cool and I did like what the house looked like from the ghost dimension.

Fant4stic - Where do I want to start? How about the good? It's better than Hulk and X-Men 3. In fact, the first 45 minutes were actually pretty decent. If this had been a straight up science fiction movie about a brainy child who finds a way to travel to a parallel dimension and they set out to explore that, it would have been a good movie despite the fact that none of the cast had any chemistry. However, it goes downhill the moment they get their powers. There was absolutely NOTHING super heroey about this at all. In fact, it felt like they decided to drag out the first half hour of a super hero movie into a 100 minute movie and called it a day. Everything that occurred when "Doctor Doom" appeared and started destroying **** should have been earlier and then they actually built him up as a threat from there. Nope, they didn't do that, they just crammed him into the last 15 minutes of the movie and didn't even take the liberties to even make him resemble Doom. He is clearly the worst aspect of the movie, not to mention he was by far the worst actor here. If you want over acting, this is your man. Good god, what the hell happened here? The rest of the cast are clearly good actors, but this jackoff was phoning everything in as if he was the new Hayden Christiansen. Oh, but the worst part is, the last hour of the movie is just flat out BORING!! In the end, I give this thing no one wanted a 4/10. But hey, look on the bright side, it sure as hell ain't Jonah Hex bad.

I have just watched the WORST movie I have ever seen in my life to come out since Battlefield Earth and it's name was Mortdecai. This atrocious piece of rotten flesh is not the least bit funny and if Johnny Depp was trying to prove that he can be one of the worst actors of all time, this was it. I give this... this... whatever the hell it was, a 0/10 stars.

Unfriended - This was down right stupid, but at least it tried to do something new with the horror genre. The characters turned out to be all douchebags though and got what they deserved. I give this one a 6/10.

The Gallows - Holy ****, what the hell? It wasn't bad enough that it was another generic found footage type movie, but it was so god damn boring. Just like Unfriended, the characters were extremely unlikable assholes, but nothing even happened until 50 minutes into it. Add on top of it a horrifying dumb**** ending that would even make M Night Shyamalan facepalm and you have another waste of space. At least it wasn't as bad as Mortdecai, so I give it a 3/10.

Jupiter Ascending - It exists, that is all I really have to say about it. Oh, and Not Gary Oldman's turrets syndrome was hilarious. "GO!!" 5/10.

The first Gamera movie. It's really bland. Have no idea how it caught on to make a whole series. Gonna watch vs Barugon next.

Pixels - Man, watching Mortdecai really must have dulled the pain because neither this or Jupiter Ascending were as bad as I was anticipating. Don't get me wrong, this movie was pretty bad, but there were some funny jokes in it and Adam Sandler and the girl actually had some chemistry compared to Channing Tatum and Mila Kuniz. Kevin James is by far no president, but it was Peter Dinklage who clearly phoned in his performance because my god did he suck here. It could have been worse, but in the end, it was just mediocre and I give it a 5/10.

Sorry Kain, I should have taken your advice, but, I had some extra time this weekend, which is rare, and a 50 cent off deal at the Redbox didn't help either:

Fant4stic- Like you said, -would have been an ok Sci-Fi movie, but was a horrible superhero film. The worst part is I stayed awake for the first 80 minutes, but the last 20, when they go back to Planet Zero and fight Doom I fell asleep. My son (10 years old), told me it was pretty lame though. I didn't even bother to go back and watch the last 20 minuets I missed. You know what though...I could be wrong, but I don't necessarily blame the director on this one. If he was handed an awful story, there is only so much you can do.

Poltergeist(2015) -OK I had to see this, like the train wreck you cant look away from. The original 1982 film was one film that genuinely terrified me as a kid, more so than any slasher film. So, the new one was interesting. Not bad, but not really good either. CG effects are definitely not as scary as practical effects. -The one scene that might have got me was near the end when the dad reaches out to the "ghost" version of his little daughter and it roars and lunges at him. But that was in the preview, so I was expecting it. I did kind of like how they made the brother more of a hero than the parents. Also the ending was a bit confusing. I couldn't tell if they were confirming Jared Harris' character survived his trip to "The Light", or if that scene at the end was a flashback from a previous TV episode? -Oh well, so much for remakes.
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

The VIsit - nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. I mean, I had actually heard middling things, but I'd given up on Shyamalan being capable of making something competent. The movie fumbles in the third act and loses some of its tension, but I more or less enjoyed the watch. Probably not one that would hold up on a re-watch.

The Green Inferno - I'm not sure if Roth is incapable of writing likable characters or unwilling to do so or what...but he's AWFUL at writing characters and dialogue. Once the movie kicks in to where you expect it to go, being a cannibal movie, it's good/entertaining, but the first 40 minutes are painful.

Scout's Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse - There are a LOT of jokes, and not all of them work, but much like Zombeavers, this is a movie that delivers COMPLETELY on the promise of every potential joke that is posited throughout the film and is constantly ramping up its insanity. It's probably a slightly better movie than Zombeavers too, in terms of direction and cinematography and effects.

Sinister 2 - This. is. CRAP. After the first movie, you can't do a mystery thing again. We all know where the mystery is headed. They needed to do something different here and mostly didn't. They got too caught up in people raving about the "snuff films" of the first movie and decided to just throw out a ton more of those and hope we'd forget that the movie they're in is garbage.

Hotel Transylvania 2 - I didn't adore the first one. I feel like this is more of the same. It's fine. If it's on TV, I may watch. That's about as far as I'd go.

Everest - I had certain expectations for this movie based on the trailers and cast and most of them were subverted. That's always nice/fun but one major drawback is that every time a person dies, it feels...anti-climactic. There's not enough emotion or reverence devoted to a guy getting so thin on oxygen, he hallucinates and walks off a cliff, or a person freezing to death overnight. These things just kind of happen. If there could have been a little more emotional weight here, it could have been quite good.

Sicario - With the RAVE reviews, I was kind of expecting perfection. I really liked this movie, and it's GOOD, but I don't know if it's GREAT. It lacks...something to make it great. A more likable character who's a little more relatable would be nice. Also, there's a lot of time spent on a character who turns out to kinda be nothing, and I was like "Oh...we spent a lot of time with this character and THAT'S where it went? Dumb." Knocks it down a couple pegs, but still a good movie.
Gills.

Hot Pursuit - Unfunny, annoying as **** characters (seriously, can they whine any more? Oh, and the one lady sounds like a dying cat), horrible acting, and a dumb as crap plot. The only thing I can say is it was better than some of the other bad movies from 2015, so I give it a 5/10.

Rocky III

After two terrific dramatic films the franchise becomes, basically, a shonen anime: Rocky lives peaceably with friends and allies in the beginning, a powerful new villain (not an opponent: a villain) is revealed, in the first battle the good guys are utterly defeated, Rocky must go into deep physical/spiritual training to tap into some new level of strength, and then Rocky fights bad guy.

It's fun.

^ oddly enough, this was the first Rocky film I saw as a kid. It was "cartoonish" compared to the first two, but it had Mr. T & Hulk Hogan (who also became big in WWF around the same time) , and Eye of the Tiger, what an awesome 80's song!

The Prophecy 2 - I appreciate that they kept the story going with different actors, but like a lot of sequels it undermined the resolution of the first film

The Prophecy 3 - Christopher Walken is at his Walkeniest in this. It's a pleasure to watch and may be a better sequel than the second film.
