Hmmmm....so maybe the poster image is a more regenerated Godzilla.

I like it. It has the potential to look really cool on film. I hope this means Godzilla really will be regenerating throughout the movie. That's such a cool concept.

LOL I hope it is more than a skeleton when he first shows up. That would seem like a hacky scooby doo monster...

This thing looks horrible. Good to know that in addition to Gamera besting Godzilla in the 90s, America bests Japan at designing Godzilla
Gills.

I kind of hope that it's is own thing. I know the original film is a sacred touchstone and all, but I want to see Toho start fresh for a change.

Wow, I...hmmm...not sure what to say.

I generally like everything. 1998 Godzilla, 1976 Kong, even the Star Wars prequels.

So far I do not like this Godzilla design at all.

Still, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it!

How were the special effects in the live action Attack on Titan movie? The trailers looked ok, but heard the effects were a mixed bag in the entire movie.

I'm middle ground on the design. For the effect Anno and Higuchi are going for, they did a really good job making Godzilla look mutated, scared and damaged. He also looks ridiculous and I would much rather prefer to have a more normal looking Godzilla. I also like that they are not trying to ground Godzilla in realism, which is the number one source of issues I have for the 2014 design mainly around his skin texture, Chinese-foot-bound-feet and giving him fish gills. They had even more ridiculous designs for a realistic Godzilla that I think Toho rejected.

I think both designs would have been vastly improved if neither Legendary or this new production hadn't gone out of their way to try to re-invent their version of Godzilla.

I dislike how bland the 2014 movie was with it's themes and messages, but I think turning everything up to 11 for a Japanese movie is not really better. I will say that I believe Higuchi and Anno are coming from a better place with their creation than Thomas Tull is. They at least are honoring the metaphor and aren't turning him into a Summer Super Hero.

Narrative is still more important fellas. If the story is bad, the "greatest suit in the world" will help very little. If the suit is not up to what we like, but the movie has a great plot, that works out better. "Son of Godzilla" is the best example of that. At this stage, I am more concerned on what has been written. What do they have in store for the big guy, that merits this type of design?

The effect in AoT were mostly good. The Colossal Titan was done pretty well, and it sounds like this Godzilla may be a similar kind of puppet. I'm still...a little concerned about the baby arms, but these are 4 low quality pics. We'll get more eventually. I really hope the final product has a more traditional look.

I think the narrative being good is a valid point. I'm honestly only familiar with Anno's work in EVA, but he is at least capable of telling a story with multiple layers. It's the overly whiny characters that drove me nuts...but anime and film are different mediums, so I'm certainly keeping an open mind.

I'm mostly curious as to whether this will be a one-shot or the start of a new series. If it's a one time thing then this horror-Goji will work fine but I don't see it working in the long run. So I guess it all comes down to Toho's plans for the big guy.
I'm not a hero. I'm not a savior. Forget what you know.

I'm just a man whose circumstances went beyond his control.

AoT effects for the most part were great. The first movie definitely had better visuals than the second. We won't have to worry about bad green screen shots because we won't have characters flying around like spiderman. Our only concern should be any CGI used in the movie. AoT's scenes that relied on CG were definitely bad. (baby titan, human to titan transformations in part 2)

^^^^ Good

^^^^^^^^ Bad...

I'm too worried about the SFX in this movie. I'm sure this suit will perform amazing on screen. I'm only worried if this movie is (A) Boring and (B) an incoherent mess.

Sidenote, someone on August's blog made this speculation...

I honestly wouldn't put it past them to do something like that. However I think everyone is pretty certain what this is has stated so.

Wow, I'm loving the new design so far! It's so cool we're going to get a real 'nightmare Godzilla,' it's hard not to feel a bit heartbroken looking at him, which I think will bode well for Godzilla's portrayal in the movie.

I want to see this movie NOW.

Not feeling it at all. It looks like someone just decided to see what Godzilla would look like as a Titan from AoT and Toho didn't have time to make a proper suit afterwards.

Some more information, although I don't know how accurate his source is. Apparently, Godzilla will have three forms throughout the film. I'm also interested about how the Godzilla suit will be operated. It's apparently huge and will need three people to use. It's cool that this isn't coming at the expense of the miniatures.
