GMK.

I find G2K to be one of the most overrated Godzilla films of all time, and it bothers me how truly AWFUL some of the matte shots and CGI are....were they even trying? I know this is a Godzilla film and not all the effects are going to be great, but some of those scenes were just...not passable even by Godzilla standards. The final battle is also boring and no amount of Katagiri shouting "Godzilllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" is going to fix a bad movie. I simply cannot comprehend all the love for what is - at best - a mediocre entry in the series. I don't find it fun, I find it dull.

Oh, and Orga (mostly) sucks. I don't mind the design, but the execution is poor (and CGI Orga is even worse).

Now GMK? It's superb through the death of Baragon, and even though the final act is not very good I still like it more than G2K.

Let's not act like "Character arcs finishing too early and so the characters are forced to just WATCH the final battle" is something that's only inherent to the Heisei films.

To me, there are way more genuine character moments in Yuki and Shinoda's relationship and the way it's built as opposed to pretty much any Heisei character relationship post-GvsKG. Also, the way G2K is "showa" to me is just in how matter-of-fact it is about its kaiju. Godzilla just exists and always has, there's no harkening back to any previous film for a false nostalgia pop or forced continuity. That's a very Showa notion to me, as I really feel like the only Showa Godzilla entries that specifically reference previous films are GRA, Monster Zero, and ToMG. Everything else has that attitude of "Godzilla is a thing that exists, and here's a Godzilla story" in the Showa era and G2K has that feel to it as well.

Some lip-service to Godzilla being dangerous while he's basically the hero, a human antagonist...these are all fairly "Showa" things.
Gills.

I'm going with G2k on fun factor alone.

I am a fan of G2K. It was my first real Godzilla theatrical experience, and there are many elements that I dig. It's definitely not the worst of the Millennium series, more middle of the road. GMK is anything but middle of the road. What Kaneko and Higuchi were able to accomplish with that budget, the forced usage of Mothra and Ghidrah, and the extremely narrow production window compared to their Gamera films is nothing short of impressive. The film is easily top 5 material and stands with the best of the Showa classics.

GMK gets my vote.

I probably enjoy GODZILLA 2000 (the U.S. version, anyway) more as a whole, but GMK is easily the more ambitious and technically-sound effort, so I'm gonna go with that.

100% Terror. King Seesar is one of my favorite kaiju, but even without it ToMG trumps GvM easily.

I like Battra, but that's about it. ToMG for the win.
