That was an excellent trailer. I'm legit excited, and not just for seeing the old favorites: the three, young leads all look cool, too!

Is it lame that I teared up seeing Han and Chewie again?

Also, I want an R8. That's so neat. I hope there's a featurette on how they put it together.

Just the aesthetics of that shot of Han and Chewie at the end LOOKS more like Star Wars than anything from the prequels

I'm cautiously optimistic. I really like a lot of what I'm seeing but there's some things that still give me pause. But yeah, both trailers so far have been pretty exciting.

And BB-8 is astoundingly cool. Mark Hamill had said it was a real, working prop in an interview a few months ago, but to finally see it in action up close was really something. The fact that they built that for real is reason enough to give me great hope for this movie.

I remember how excited I was by the episode 1 trailer, so i'm cautiously optimistic.

That does sum up a few of Harrison Ford's recent performances pretty well

I dunno. I saw Phantom Menace when I was 10 years old. I saw the original trilogy when the special editions came out. So, for me, there was a 2 year wait for Phantom Menace, and I only really found out about it in late 98'. Now, the movie is still there, with all of its terrible flaws, but at the same time I don't know that my hype was that big. Hell, I missed Return of the Jedi in theaters so I had to save up change to buy a VHS of it and I was wayyyy more hyped for that than Phantom Menace. To me, Menace was another Star Wars film and in my short life we had 3 and we were getting 3 more. I only bring this up because in my conversations with people local to me the hype seems to intensify the hatred for any given prequel film.

At the same time, I don't really mind watching the prequels or pretend they don't exist. I mean, I watch vs. Mothra and X Megaguirus on occasion as well. It's a film series with ups and down.

I'd say my hype for The Force Awakens is a bit higher. I mean, do I believe it's going to be a great movie? Nope. I mean, it could be a lot of fun...but it could also be Star Trek Into Darkness. I'm still incredibly excited to see it this December.

Well, I guess it is a generational thing, but I do remember seeing the 1999 trailer in the movie theater to thunderous applause in the end. And people would have been all over themselves on YouTube, had it existed. And the words “cautiously optimistic” was not even a thought! It was going to be another Star Wars movie, so automatically, a good time was going to be had by all!

When the special editions of the originals were released, that should have given us clues that Mr. Lucas had a severe case of CGI fever, with no cure or remedy. As it is, “cautiously optimistic” are words we now use for just about every big f/x picture that will be forthcoming or in the drawing boards.

Pretty sure Kylo Ren has appeared without the mask on, and it's not Mark Hamill.
