At least this movie has a chance to be good. Let's be honest: an Akroyd-penned movie starring Jonah Hill and Seth Rogen with no Ramis (RIP) and a small cameo from Murray (if that) would have never, ever, in any possible universe turned out okay.

Maybe they'll throw out the script except for the bare skeleton of events and go from there? That's what a lot of films seem to do (for good or ill).

I'm not willing to count this movie out yet. The cast is decent, Feig has a decent track-record (he created Freaks and Geeks for god's sake!).

I'm game. Not crazy about McCarthy, but I like Feig and Wiig.

If they do go with this. There better be a lego game that connects all 3 movies.

You know this movie could make the Ghostbusters a team of alien fighting chicks with boyfriend issues that travel the galaxy and have Plasma Packs instead of Proton Packs. But it won't change one simple fact. The original original Gjostbusters Movies still exist. It's not like they'll burn the original copies after this comes out.

Well in any case if they fail at movies they have all those other areas to fall back on.

Ernest's argument about originals still existing works on people who are complaining about their childhood being sexually violated, but I am just lamenting Melissa McCarthy appearing in a project that had been of interest to me.

Ghostbusters 1 still exists yeah, but now there's gonna be one more crappy Melissa McCarthy "comedy" out there and THATS what bugs me.

Ghostbusters is (and has always been) an ensemble cast and 3/4 cast members are perfect for that. They should be able to play off each other well.

Feig and McCarthy have been key to each other's box office success, however this will not be an R-rated raunch fest, which is where Feig has shown most of his breakout talent. The question is, as a director can Feig balance the cast and humor.

I understand some of the disappointment. I lament Dane Cook, Pauly Shore, Kevin James, or any number of comedians I find unfunny in starring roles, but this isn't a McCarthy vehicle, its an ensemble... Its up to Feig to make that ensemble work

I just made the mistake of watching the trailer for Spy...

<SIGH> It's basically the plot of the new Get Smart, only with Melissa McCarthy instead of Steve Carrell.

My plan right now is to not see it unless it gets good reviews from people I trust, but that also doesn't mean I can't comment on it.

That's one of those deflection tactics like, "You don't like it? Let's see you do better." Just because I can't make a better movie doesn't mean I can't form a valid opinion on one. Just because I'm not going to see a movie doesn't mean I can't say things about it.

I work in the oil industry and I'd never tell people who aren't in the industry "Let's see you do better" when they reference the Maconda blowout and say the engineers and companies in charge did a bad job. The average idiot COULDN'T design a deepwater well, but that doesn't mean they can't comment on one when it goes horribly, horribly wrong.

Well in that case let's all sit here and form some opinions.

In my opinion this movies gonna fail not just because it strays from the source material. But mainly because we have several bigger films to care about coming out 2016(which is when this film is supposedly slated for release, here's to hoping it gets pushed back...or cancelled.).
