Via Steam's holiday sale I picked up Metal Gear Solid V: The Demo.. I mean Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Rising: Revengence.

I honestly don't think I've had a game install and start as smoothly as MGS5:GZ. No extra boxes popped up to ask for permission for this or that, no huge as loading screen and all the corporate logos were on screen for less time than one from booting up Fry Cry 3. The main mission is short, but there are thing in the compound that I'm sure are utilized more in the other missions (like the big cannons or commandeering vehicles). But the cut scenes are astounding! I know there's a live action Metal Gear movie in the works, but I would totally watch a movie made entirely from these quality of cut scenes. The animation is just astounding. And per Kojima the scenes are long, 10+ minutes from hitting start to actually playing and another 10+ after the missions is completed. But they were just.. wow. At one point I was getting a rather visceral reaction to the game, something that even movies rarely do (the scene involves emergency surgery). For being under $20 some might still find it a tad expensive, and I wouldn't argue I'm just an idiot blinded fandom.

If this port is any indication on how Phantom Pain is going to be, it'll be astounding.

MGS: Revengence was just as smooth installing (other than my internet connection crapping out making the download take WAY too long). But for some reason it came up windowed. I didn't mess with it too much but I tried alt-enter and it didn't do anything, so I just started playing. And it's a freaking blast to play! Other than the windowed thing, the only real issues was the camera wanting to look at me rather than the enemies. I'd get tossed into a wall or something and instead of letting me focus on the enemy bearing down on me the camera is just looking at my stupid face right before some cyborg starts wailing on me. I just got into the section in the sewers with the big gorilla things and they are just... ugh.... hate them. HATE them. Boss fights are bug nutz awesome though.

Titanfall - This game is old news, but I had never played it before this weekend. My buddy had it on XBox One. I loved Call of Duty, but adding the giant Robots to the fray was genius and a ton of fun. I have a 360, so I am getting this through gamefly this week. I hope there aren't too many differences between gameplay on the 360 and XB1.

I did get a PS4 for Christmas, but Playstation had network issues so I didn't play anything online. Surprisingly, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare's campaign is really good so far. I will hit up multiplayer tonight (most likely). I also have Wolfenstein and the Last of Us to play through.

I completed the stunt jumps today. Also got 14 of the Knife Flights before the game kept resetting on me with some error code.

I also took 50 new pictures today as I was riding on a train today for fun.

Kain your post is killing me!

It's like the snapshots of a psycho's vacation. Chasing victims down, killing them and documenting the kill. Then getting distracted by the beauty of the new city he's in.

I started Far Cry 4 today and I have to be honest, I'm quite disappointed in it. It isn't bad, but it feels like Ubisoft just took the last game and made new skins and voice acting over it. The visuals are great, but there are a lot of major frustrations I have with it. The stealth doesn't seem to be as polished here as enemies can see you when you are like 20 miles away from them, which is ridiculous. Not only that, but if you are on the top of a mountain the guards on the ground can still see you no matter how high you are. It doesn't help that the body armor you wear is made out of tissue paper. Also, the ****ing eagles!!! They just come out of no where and attack you and there is no way for you to not lose health from them. Finally, the controls when driving are an absolute nightmare. I had to change my control settings for driving but the vehicles still drive like they are skating over ice.

Complaining aside, it is still very cool taking down enemies with either your knife or bow. And I am enjoying taking down the Outposts and radio towers. However, it isn't as good as 3, at least not right now. I hope the game gets better as it goes along.

Couldn't you just get the game on Steam and skip the Uplay stuff?

Been playing some PS4. I received Shadow of Mordor as a Christmas present, and I had no idea beforehand that the game was heavily influenced by the Batman: Arkham games. I love the boss/enemy system they have going on in the game, which is what the title brings new to the table. It looks like the orcs are completely randomized, and there's a military ranking system where they fight amongst themselves for promotion, which makes them stronger and I think gives them a stronger item drop should you kill them too. I'm sure at some point the orc appearances and dialogue might repeat itself, but for now its been completely fresh and really cool. It feels like its own game despite the combat being familiar.

Also been playing Minecraft for PS4 in anticipation of TU19 which despite being released on all the other consoles, and on PS4 outside the US, has not actually hit the US yet. I've heard its buggy anyway, but despite that I'm still annoyed that I'm stuck to keeping a small footprint in my TU18 world so TU19 items and structures have a chance of showing up in the unexplored world. I'm guessing the Christmas DDoS attack might have something to do with the delay.

I don' get what the issue you guys are having with Uplay. I have never touched Uplay since ACRevelations (or was it III??) and have never had an issue.

Anyway, I played more of Assassin's Cry Dogs and the side missions are far more fun than the actual story missions. I wish I could help Pagan Min though as these two knuckleheads in charge of the Golden Path give me no reason to feel their running the country would be any different than Pagan's.

I beat Sunset Overdrive last night ugh that final boss was a pain in the ass. I was going to start Kingdom Hearts on PS3 but my PS3 decided to stop reading certain discs so I need to either open it up and clean the lens or hunt down a new BD-ROM for it or just buy a new PS3.

So instead I picked Destiny on Xbox One back up.

Yeah, I know that Ubisoft says a game has to be able to be done annually or they won't make it, which is just utter bull*****. Their games being the same thing makes it pointless to even bother buying them. Yes, Rockstar does a lot of the same stuff in their games, but they always have the quality to back it up. They always have top notch story telling, excellent gameplay mechanics, a variety of quests you can do, they always try to do something new with each installment, and they don't release a new GTA every 11 months. I wouldn't be surprised if Ubisoft announces the next Watch_Dogs game for a May release in the next month. Hell, they already announced the next AC.

As for The Crew, they couldn't even get driving right in Far Cry 4 or Watch_Dogs, how can I figure they can get it right for a game that focuses solely on driving?

I think it was more that some one leaked some stuff on the next AC game and Ubi begrudgingly confirmed it.

But yeah, they're going to ruin their franchises this way. All the games being homogenized and feeling same-y isn't a good thing. What was the thing that everyone loved about Black Flag? Not the regular AC stuff but the pirating/sailing stuff. To keep things fresh and interesting you can't just change locations/time periods and call it good.

Although I will admit I'm interested to see what stand alone product they're making from Far Cry 4. I know it won't be a Blood Dragon 2, which I understand but wish I play more in that world.

Don't know, but I think I am done with Ubisoft once I finish FC4 (if I finish it). As for AC4, I hated the sailing aspects of III, so there was no way in hell I was going to touch IV. Plus, with the middle finger ending they gave me to Desmond's story, I stopped having a reason to care.
