I think there's a more noticeable difference between 93 and 92 than 92 and 91. Still, I don't really ever think about the 93 Goji because the differences are still so subtle until Desu-Goji. Those pics of the 84 suit with the other figures really make it look great. I think the thighs are a bit bigger than they should be...but the biggest thing is that I wish they'd give these things more considerable tails.

There are A LOT of differnces between the 89/91 suit and the 92 suit. The face of the 92 suit has less emotion, different colored eyes, a different buldge on the top of his head, the neck is thinner and longer, the body is not as muscular but more fatty.

My pile of loot from BBTS arrived today and with that was the Neca G 85.

The package was very cold when I opened it(it was snowing outside), so while I did free 85 from his plastic prison, I let him set for a while before actually posing him. Unfortunately I've learned from experience, *NEVER* take a stone cold Neca figure and try to pose it. You're only asking for problems. I have a legless Predator that can testify to that.

Anyway, initially out of package I was a little underwhelmed by the figure. Head sculpt is fantastic, but everything else felt a little off. My first attempt at a standing pose really brought the flaws to light. The hips felt oversized and the articulation there seemed wrong, the forearms are too thin and long, and, as has been summarily noted many times, the back fins are too small. What really helps fix this is putting the figure into some dynamic poses. It doesn't take much at all to really hide the problems. So much so that its improved my opinion significantly. My first stand-at-attention pose made me groan, but now that I know the figure, its nothing but good poses.

I really wish Neca would use some flat paints for these figures. On the plus side, this figure doesn't suffer from "the shiny" near as much as the 93 does. The head articulation, and really the head in general is just excellent. Overall I'm very happy with the figure. I like this better than the 93, but out of Neca's G entries so far, the 2014 easily takes the cake. Its because of that figure that I'm still able to resist the SHMA.

Futzing with the figure, I finally was able to get the elbows to go 90 degrees which helps a natural arms-by-side pose tremendously.

Also, I think if they just turned the dorsal fins upside down so the biggest fin would be higher on the back, that would help their appearing undersized. Wouldn't fix it, obviously, but it would go a ways towards a cosmetic fix. It looks like the bottom torso dorsal fins go in via a strip which could be pried out, but the upper torso fins look like they might be a part of the torso mold.

It would be super inaccurate then. G'85's design had the largest fins closer to the hip than the shoulder area.

I have a Godzilla '84 wrapped up under the tree. I'm very excited about this.

Based on the shape of one of my gifts, I'm betting it's the 85 figure. And it looks like my girlfriend got me more gifts than I got her, but I did get her something rather expensive. Hopefully it even outs for us, I really hope that I don't seem like I'm under-gifting.

Really enjoying my Godzilla '84. He's a pretty good likeness, just a bit thinner than the actual suit. Great detail on the skin, but could use a bit more on the dorsal plates.

I do feel he needs a toy submarine as an accessory...

Okay, I got two G85 for Christmas. One I opened and one I'm keeping as an investment. Out of all the issues I had with the figure from just seeing it online, I wasn't expecting the leg joints to be an issue. Since it swivels at the knee, I have a hard time getting it into a decent position here it doesn't look like he's in sum wrestling stance. Am I just not moving it right?

Playing with it, I understand why they chose thing rubbery fins, as they'd just smack against each other as you twisted the torso. Still wish they were bigger though.

Regardless, I'm happy I got it.

G84's legs are stiff, so at first it's difficult getting them into a good pose. Just play around with him and soon he'll be able to go into a number of crazy poses.

No the knees and ankles on G'84 are pin/disc and ball joints respectively. The knees twist as well as bend back and forth. But the back and forth is kind of a click joint that snaps into position but is REALLY REALLY tight. I never had any issues getting the ball joint ankles to move, though the range isn't as good pushing the toes up as far as I would like to be able to.

Ultimately, the legs are just awkwardly sculpted with really poorly designed and implemented articulation. The result being it's nearly impossible to get decent poses out of the legs.

HA DERP.

I really like this guy, although the tiny dorsal fins and tail bug me a bit. Much better head sculpt though!

I would suggest folks just bug NECA and let them know to do a second Godzilla 85 figure with the better proportions.

Oh and saw this, it seems Godzilla 2000 is not a priority figure at the moment, so maybe this helps for more Showa figures to be done and less importance on the Millennium stuff.
