Those are all elements of those monsters being large and nothing more. There isn't a strong story telling narrative for why I, as a viewer of this movie, should be glad that Godzilla is going to stop this force. This is an item that even Pacific Rim had: Through dialogue and story telling you knew, that the Jaegers were the last line of defense to Hong Kong to stop an invasion force that wanted to wipe civilization off of the map. If the Jaegers lose the monsters would go out of their way to destroy the citizens of Hong Kong and beyond. The stakes are ratcheted up again afterwards, because Newt is able to confirm that what they had seen to date was only an expedition force. If the portal is not shut down, the entire planet will be covered in giant monsters designed to remove humans and make the planet suitable for alien life. There is a stake in the game during this battle. It make Stryker's sacrifice mean something. When Gypsy blew itself up the narrative is giving the middle finger to the aliens.
Similarly, when you see these other villains of the Godzilla franchise fight the monster who's in a protagonist role, there's something on the line. KG, Gigan, Megalon and Mechagodzilla all have a vendetta against the people of Earth. Hedorah could turn the entire planet into a toxic word of poisonous gas. Godzilla's continued existence, a potential threat in his own right is the better of those two outcomes.
With the MUTOs, going into that final fight, there's not that same level of sense that if Godzilla were to lose, some bad outcome would result. Yes, the MUTOs are a giant monster who have killed people and yes they fry electronics. However these are creatures who are acting purely on animalistic instinct. There's no reason for them to continue to seek out human populations if they don't contain nuclear materials. They aren't heralding in the Apocalypse. To that respect, why should the people of SF be happy that Godzilla even won? He's still a giant monster that can also step on people and breathe fire. The world still has giant monsters it just has a different giant monster than before.
