As long as it's terrifically wrong then I'm ok with it
I just watched the fight scene again the other day...not bad...but it's brief and it's cut up with lot's of Ford running around trying to save the world. More of that final fight would have been a great thing.
Edit* Then again, the fight scenes in this film probably add up to the length of the fight scenes in the beloved Gamera 3. Thing is, Gamera 3 has a few things working for it.
1) It's the third film in a franchise so we've already seen plenty of fight scenes with the lead kaiju.
2) The bulk of the film revolves around a girl's connection with a kaiju...so while Gamera might not be on the screen a lot, he's always present. He's driving the story along without being there.
3)When there is kaiju action it hits like a ton of bricks. The Shibuya scene made me a little ill the first time I saw it. That much carnage...it was a heavy feeling. The final fight with Gamera also has a lot of substance...it involves a girls' redemption and Gamera actually has to make a difficult choice to win.
Basically, it's not the length of the fight scenes as much as the film they're in. That's why a lot of us don't have much hope for the sequels.
