Well it isn't like the the larvas are tiny by any comparison. The Battra larva itself is going to be huge, and it does look like it'll have plenty of articulation, throw in the Mothra larva and you do get something that utilizes more plastic than either Mothra or Battra's adult forms.

EDIT: Gigan is a tall figure by any standard, comes with a bunch of accessories. Also I bet people got injured making it which is why its more expensive

Not to mention, any figure with diecast will have an increased price point.

Even so, it's creative process is completely different which can command a lower price point vs Tamashii Nations.

Well if the Larva Mothra is included with the adult Mothra then the price would be higher than $64 and then there would be complaints about that in the end :? . Putting both Larvas together in a set makes more sense, since selling them one at a time would be a horrible choice and ensure it would not move.

Also there is die-cast in Gigan that there is not in Adult Jr. Also there is more engineering work into Gigan's accessories than there is in the beam effect.

Yeah right, there's no swivel joints on that thing, nor the same range of motion on the thighs, or the knees for that matter as well as the tail and neck and torso.

Two versions of the same character with different materials? Yeah that still makes no sense.

Unless your name is Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, or RX-78-Gundam there makes no business sense in doing such a thing

If your comparing between those two figures, Gigan and Godzilla (Adult Jr) there's definitely enough to warrant the higher price. While Godzilla (Adult Jr) does have a beam effect, (Not the spiral ray) it's articulation engineering and sculpt is basic. Gigan has far more points of articulation, the sculpt is crazy detailed and has many unusual surfaces unlike Godzilla, the inclusion of diecast metal, the engineering for the wings warrant some points as not only do they fold from nuetral to flight poses, they also have sliding parts in the membrane, There's the alternate hand parts which are huge compared to Godzilla's alternate hands, the chainsaw blades are movable like a real chainsaws, the translucent eye, and the rest of the swappable parts.

Based on this thread i'd say that Tamashii might have a problem with consumer fatigue, which might make sense for them to hit it heavy on reissues from a business perspective. It gives long time collectors room to breathe and allows for new buyers to catch up. It might end up being better for the line in the long run.
Although i may be in the minority when i say this, but as a collector, I'd have been more annoyed if the reissues cost less than what I paid originally.

Comparing imported toys to domestic action figures from eleven years ago is moving the goalposts just a bit too far apart. A more apt comparison would be to the NECA ED-209 or the Spider Gremlin, both domestic collector's figures with a higher level of detail and articulation that are actually contemporary to MonsterArts. The circumstances behind a $20 McFarlane Alien Queen are much more different from the diminished market for collector's toys in America in 2014.

I felt you on the Kiryu thing, just not as angrily, but not the rest of this.

Sure it does, the cost of a figure from 2003 back when plastic wasn't as expensive, and features very little articulation on a whole is going to be a whole lot less expensive than a detailed articulated figure that is produced in a period when plastic for toy production is already high. It's why the price of Deluxe and Voyager Transformers keeps getting higher each year.

So your bottom line is that, these toys are expensive, and people are buying them knowing full well how expensive they are, and that's whats eating you up? :|

I'm probably more pissed that MS Girls Banshee Norn is more expensive than MS Girls Unicorn even if they're the same damn thing with a different deco.

I actually got the FIGMA Robocop and it's pretty damn good. My only problem though is the lack of Murphy's face underneath the helmet. I rather like the use of ball jointed wrists rather than the normal pin-like joints FIGMA is usually known for.

Sorry guys, but despite the issues I have with Bandai currently for both MonsterArts and Figuarts, they are still the best toylines out there, especially when it comes to Kamen Rider, Sentai, and Godzilla. I do think they are skimming on the accessories though without a payoff as they seem to be increasing their prices, but their sculpts and articulation are solid even if the quality control is not always there. Of course, this time last year I would have said their quality control is top notch. Now, that just isn't true and I think it has to do with how many different lines they seem to be producing these days. It seems like the older rangers and riders do not have the same qc issues we have now. Nevertheless, I'll take a MonsterArt over a vinyl any day. I've become an articulation "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" and will not except anything less.

Now I definitely think Kiryu SOS is unnecessary at this point in time. There are just way too many other monsters to bring out and I would rather have another version of Godzilla before another version of Kiryu. I especially think SOS Kiryu is over priced considering he is 60% a repaint. However, to say this line is not worth supporting is ludicrous.

BTW, Adult Jr is not really a repaint. He has new sculpting and parts.

Also, as stated, comparing prices from 2003 to today is dumb. Hell, look at Mattel's He-Man Classics line. Their figures were $20 in 2009 to $22 in 2012 and are now $30. Their DCU line was $10 in 2007 and moved up to $25 last year and did not come with a Build a Figure piece.
