Sorry guys, but despite the issues I have with Bandai currently for both MonsterArts and Figuarts, they are still the best toylines out there, especially when it comes to Kamen Rider, Sentai, and Godzilla. I do think they are skimming on the accessories though without a payoff as they seem to be increasing their prices, but their sculpts and articulation are solid even if the quality control is not always there. Of course, this time last year I would have said their quality control is top notch. Now, that just isn't true and I think it has to do with how many different lines they seem to be producing these days. It seems like the older rangers and riders do not have the same qc issues we have now. Nevertheless, I'll take a MonsterArt over a vinyl any day. I've become an articulation "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" and will not except anything less.
Now I definitely think Kiryu SOS is unnecessary at this point in time. There are just way too many other monsters to bring out and I would rather have another version of Godzilla before another version of Kiryu. I especially think SOS Kiryu is over priced considering he is 60% a repaint. However, to say this line is not worth supporting is ludicrous.
BTW, Adult Jr is not really a repaint. He has new sculpting and parts.
Also, as stated, comparing prices from 2003 to today is dumb. Hell, look at Mattel's He-Man Classics line. Their figures were $20 in 2009 to $22 in 2012 and are now $30. Their DCU line was $10 in 2007 and moved up to $25 last year and did not come with a Build a Figure piece.
