Just ordered the NECA G2014 as well. And luckily had a $5 ebay coupon could use so saved even some more. Can't wait to get it.

Hmmmmm, I wonder what will be more popular?

The vastly cheaper, but less detailed/less articulated NECA figure?

Or the more expensive, but more detailed/more articulated Monsterarts figure?

What do you guys think? If I had to guess, NECA is going to be "stealing" a lot of tamashii's U.S. customers.

I would say NECA will be getting its share of purchases with this. And it's all Bandai's, Toho's, and WB's fault for being so secretive with their product.

It makes zero sense why Tamashii's release of Godzilla would get released in Japan first, a country that is sick and tired of Godzilla and doesn't even like this new movie no matter what.

I'd really like to see the larger 24in toy to see what differences, if any, there are between it and the smaller figure. The pics I've seen so far are really cool.

NECA seems to have a domestic advantage at this point. Besides the prompt release date in junction with America’s schedule, their figures are perfect for people, who want a decently sculpted, super-articulated figure for an affordable price. The product and MSRP has potential to draw pre-existing and new fans alike. On the other hand, people who can afford S.H. MonsterArts figures might purchase SHMA’s version only, or both (SHMA and NECA together). I have no idea how much market control both companies will actually have this summer, but we essentially are the winners. We get to select some potentially great products from USA and/or Japan.

News You Can Use time...

Here is a video review of the 12 inch head to tail tip NECA figure. For about 20 dollars, it is very good. Far better than a vinyl I think. And yeah I do think NECA will get into a lot of Tamashii's bizness Godzilla 2000 (as you asked the question). Though I can see some folks totally getting both the NECA and SHMA version "just because" they want to support the new film. The Jaks figures sold well didn't they? I bet some folks will buy lots of Goji merchandise due to the film excitement, and I see NECA doing fairly well in the whole mix of it.

I agree that there will be a massive fall off, but Diamond's long term and steady release schedule makes me think that "they think" there will be more prolonged interest, otherwise they would have rushed the releases to coincide with the film

I was just over at K-Mart.com where they currently have the 24 in Jakks Pacific Godzilla on pre-order for $33.99 (regular price of $39.99). The product page lists a release date of 5/23/14, so if you don't see stuff in stock at K-Mart yet we should by then. Not sure what shipping would be, looks like there could be a free in store pick up option.

The most recent Diamond Previews catalog had a solicit for FLCS to order the large Jakks figure, so they might just be slow getting them out.

ToyWiz said that the preorders for the 6 inch NECA Godzilla was shipping this month, so I just preordered it! I was going to go get that Leatherback figure, but I decided to save me $11 and get the Godzilla instead. NOW, time to save $60 for that 12 inch one!!!!!!!

Also, I'm surprised no one posted this yet. I saw this on one of the Godzilla pages on my Facebook the other day.

Here is a new video review that shows comparisons with SH MonsterArts Comic Con exclusive Goji starting at 7:08. There are some Pacific Rim size comparisons as well along with a use of the hyper breath beam that came with Fire Rodan for use with Godzilla.
