The realism things is also complete BS. I guess I miss those humdrum day to day stories about ninjas in batsuits fighting clowns with glasgow smiles who crwate deranged district attorneys by blowing up half their face, an ordeal which they not only survive but evidently makes them stronger. And when those same bat-dressed men fall off buildings to save their love, and then go to another country and extradite outlaws using a plane with a big hook on the front, and turn every phone in their gotham-esque cities into sonar pinging devices, and drive around in tanks that turn in motorcycles...
And those are some of the more realistic things that happen throughout that series when compared to microwave emitters and magical nuclear bombs...
EDIT: when Nolan says realistic, he means "how would the real world react to these fantastical situations? What if I plopped this insanity into our normal world? Edwards means the same thing...realistic Godzilla collapses under the weight of his own body and the movie's over in 3 minutes.
