Spider-Man & X-Men both are from long-established franchises whereas this GODZILLA is basically a clean slate. There's really nothing else like it out there and that alone may give it some more pull because a lot of average moviegoers may see it as something other than just another sequel/reboot/superhero film. (Not that it couldn't be easily shoehorned into any and/or all of those categories.)
If the movie is actually "good" (positive critical reviews like Avengers & Cap2 and, more importantly, positive word of mouth from the masses), then I predict a healthy theatrical run. I'm wondering... IF this film does well, when could we expect to see an offical (LP) announcement of a sequel? Also wondering what date do they have set for home release... usually around 4-6 months after the theater run, right?
Speaking of sequels... exactly how will the releasing studio change by Legendary Pictures from Warner to Universal affect any future G films??? Will there be legal entaglements between the studios over property 'ownership' or will it be an invisible transition?
