Exploderbutton has some full-size screen caps (somewhat lousy jpg's, though):

I'll get these, as the transfers look gorgeous....but those English title cards suck taint.

I'm sorry but dismissively telling people to buy Toho's blu-rays is crap because:
1.) They don't feature subtitles, so when it comes to actually watching THE MOVIE, you have to what, switch discs? Come on.
2.) Holy expensive.
3.) There have actually been posts on these boards telling people specifically how to maximize the viewing experience for those Toho masters, and since most TVs these days allow for saving one or two custom viewing modes, the complaint about them looking washed out may not be 100% valid anymore (I've yet to do so for my version of Biollante)

I'm all for these releases, I think it's great considering a lot of the old ones are OOP and difficult to find, such that any fan who's wanted to buy them over the past few years has had to stick it, or buy a used DVD for $80, but it's not like the discs are above reproach.

It stinks that we won't be getting the original credits, it stinks that we won't be getting AIP dubs, it stinks that fans of Hedorah may never get to hear the translated version of "Save the Earth" again, it stinks that fans of Gigan may never get to see the speech bubbles and it stinks that there are limited extras. It doesn't mean I'm gonna boycott the discs or anything silly like that, but I'm gonna call a spade a spade.

You know you can like something AND have complaints with it, right?

..K, but if you want to see the title screens THAT badly, those ARE your options. Like I said, the title screens will be on the trailers, which are included with the Section 23 releases. Do you really need the entire credits to be in Japanese too? Why does it matter so much if it's something you can't even read? If anything, blame Toho for making their international versions, and the home video companies for using them. At least the Showa films don't have the titles plastered over the Japanese ones, like all of the post '89 Godzilla films.

The Sony Sea Monster title screen is horrid though. Definitely not a fan.

It matters because as much as I might like a particular edit or version of a particular film, the option to see the film as its director intended is important to me and my personal values and beliefs with regards to film.

IMHO, fans should be able to see ALL versions of these films whenever they want, including MST-ified.

I know there's a whole bunch of real world issues standing in the way of that...but I don't have to like it

The Sea Monster blu-ray has brought a glaring flaw to light.

I just got Smog Monster in today, and the video quality is great as expected . The only two minor issues I have are that the subs are a distracting yellow and instead of putting of them on the bottom black bars, they put it right on the bottom portion of the picture which obscures the screen somewhat. My other issue is that they didn't subtitle the opening song for the Japanese version .
