I really like the giant size Godzilla but as usual there are a few things I would change. For one thing as I mentioned earlier, it's sculpted as if it played sound but has no such functionality, so he's got speaker holes in his junk. The "swinging tail" action is silly, it maybe pivots about 15 degrees and is only hinged at the midpoint of the tail... I'd prefer that it not move at all, it's just a gimmick to appeal to the kiddies. There are eight screw holes in his back holding him together, I wish those weren't so prominent, but no big deal.
Not a complaint but an observation... some parts are very hard plastic like the torso, ams and legs. Other parts like the feet and tail are a little softer, and the spines are a very soft rubber, for safety's sake I'm sure.
Overall I really like the sculpt and new design... more so than the impression I've gotten from the trailers, art and other toys I've seen so far. When you see it in this large a scale, it works better for me. And yes the box art and the sculpt itself still have the gills... they're downplayed on the sculpt but are present, and they're frilly, so there's really nothing else they could be except gills.
Since it's only $50 I'm really tempted to get one and take some epoxy putty to it and turn it into more of a statue... do away with the tail swing action, fill the screw holes and some gaps etc.
