I really like the giant size Godzilla but as usual there are a few things I would change. For one thing as I mentioned earlier, it's sculpted as if it played sound but has no such functionality, so he's got speaker holes in his junk. The "swinging tail" action is silly, it maybe pivots about 15 degrees and is only hinged at the midpoint of the tail... I'd prefer that it not move at all, it's just a gimmick to appeal to the kiddies. There are eight screw holes in his back holding him together, I wish those weren't so prominent, but no big deal.

Not a complaint but an observation... some parts are very hard plastic like the torso, ams and legs. Other parts like the feet and tail are a little softer, and the spines are a very soft rubber, for safety's sake I'm sure.

Overall I really like the sculpt and new design... more so than the impression I've gotten from the trailers, art and other toys I've seen so far. When you see it in this large a scale, it works better for me. And yes the box art and the sculpt itself still have the gills... they're downplayed on the sculpt but are present, and they're frilly, so there's really nothing else they could be except gills.

Since it's only $50 I'm really tempted to get one and take some epoxy putty to it and turn it into more of a statue... do away with the tail swing action, fill the screw holes and some gaps etc.

I found one figure left at a Toys-R-Us in the area I live in. I took some photos with some of my larger Godzilla figures.

The tail comes in 2 sections, the upper part locks into place on the body by inserting the tail tabs into the body and turning it clockwise to lock them in. The end of the tail just snaps in somewhat similar other vinyl figures.

Picked up the Jakk's giant figure at my local TRU - TRU has a 20% off coupon on their website. Definitely worth the $40.
I asked about the smaller sets, since I didn't see them on the shelves and didn't see a space for them - the employee said he wasn't aware of any smaller sets, but was happy to see the big figure and hope that they do make smaller sets. Were the sets supposed to be released at the same time as the big guy?

Here's an imgur gallery of the . The unpainted one is the 24 inch head to tail (12 inches tall) the painted is the 12 inch head to tail (6 inches tall).

I'll probably nab the 12 inch tall one for sure.

TK also has images of the Bandai stuff but honestly the only thing that hasn't been seen is a figure of the that fits with the we've already seen. I was kind of hoping for a MUTO figure in scale with some of the other Bandai Godzilla figures, because as much fun as it is to have Godzilla tromp a toy city, it's even better when the other monster is there to get stomped on.

I wonder what kind of poses one could get out of the NECA figures. The promo images look great, but they have Godzilla standing quite neutral. Will there be more promo images that could demonstrate what the toy is capable of?

The NECA figures look great, except that front profile shot...looks kinda odd. It's very triangular...almost as if he needs a bigger head. Meh.

Yeah, I see what you mean, I have faith that it'll look a lot less awkward in person though, if not I'm still snagging him.

The side view looks great. It's still Godzilla...and I'm sure the movie will look better.
The front view looks off to me, tho.

He looks amazing from the side, but I do think he looks a tad odd from the front as well, but then again not all Godzilla suits looked terrific from that angle, imo. This is already one of my favorite designs, right up there with GMK.

I might be the only one but I don't think those NECA figures look all that great. Those joints cut into the figure waaaaay too much.

So far, if I was going to collect anything from this film (I'm not) I'd go with the JaKKS and a Monsterarts.
