Thanks for the earlier info.

I still have the ADV versions of the Gamera stuff, and Damajin.

I was kinda annoyed by the Destroy All Monsters release.
The lack of even chapter stops was rather odd.

Really glad I grabbed that Media Blasters version fast.
BTW I have seen a copy of that in a local used store going for like $92.

So in the near future we are getting these for sure:

Classic Media re-releases
New Blu-Rays of three Showa Godzilla movies
Re-releases of Destroy All Monsters & Godzilla vs Megalon (with Megalon possibly getting a Blu-Ray).
Some 4 movie set with Mothra

So did I miss any?

There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

Hmmmm... Section 23's anime division is called 'Sentai Filmworks,' and now they're releasing these Godzilla movies under 'Kraken Releasing' - so far as I know that's an entirely new imprint.

Now, we all know the Kraken is a mythical giant monster... could this be an imprint designed to release kaiju movies? Could they plan to scoop up the Godzilla movies as Sony loses the rights to the titles?

Over on the re-release topic, there was some Facebook/Twitter thing from Media Blasters.

They said they basically moved to New Jersey, and had ironed out the issue with Toho over those movies.
So they can re-release them at any time, or so I would hope.

Again not like I actually need either of those.
Since I knew a bit about Media Blasters beforehand, I grabbed the DVDs as quickly as I could.

Yeah, I never bothered to pick up the Megalon DVD as they promised a BD and I was not about to spend money on an inferior format when eventually the superior one would come out. Plus, it is just Megalon, not like it is one of the good movies. The only reason I even care about the movie is because it is the only Godzilla movie I do not own.

Remember CM's behavior a decade ago: they released a cheapie, dubbed, pan-n-scan set of films and only a few years later did they come out with their subtitled, original aspect ratio releases. I think their behavior now will mirror then. I'm sure we'll get spruced-up releases from them someday, but now they conveniently re-release their older releases.

Of course, if the new film is a big success I can see the wheels being greased so that Blu-Rays happens sooner - or someone like Shout Factory could sublicense the films from them as Criterion did.

According to kpa, Sony's rights for their non-showa Godzilla films are still some years away from their expiration (and they have GINO, GINO: The Series, Mothra, The H-Man, and Battle in Outer Space into perpetuity). I really hope we'll see Mill Creek do something with those akin to their Gamera and Daimajin releases.

Great news. Can't wait for these to come out, especially vs. Hedorah and vs. Gigan. :D

Are these the HD transfers Toho recently did? Wouldn't make sense if they weren't. This will do... And hey, they'll go good with CMS releases...

If you go into the actual article, you can see Hedorahs blu case...... Anyway, getting these 3 for 10-15 dollars is a good deal... Even if they're pretty much bare bones.

Yikes those are ugly.
The text also reminds me of the hokey descriptions on every Showa Godzilla movie released on VHS in the 90s.

Odd they are using the original US dub titles without including the dubs that actually used that title. Unless they include the original Titra dubs, or if it gets a new transfer, I'm really not interested in buying Toho's faded HD prints with only the international dub. .
