Happy New Years Eve/Happy New Years guys. Let the countdown for G2K14 begin! Yep, it's Terror of Mechagodzilla. One of my all-time favorite Godzilla movies. WLVI Channel 56 had a world television premiere for this movie on a Friday night back in 1978, and it was a huge deal to me and my kiddie friends back then. We spent most of that next Monday talking about it in school. A very good Godzilla movie to watch, with a memorable musical score from Akira Ifukube that stays in your head. Lots of images for this movie... Enjoy!
I'm guessing that those two red orbs are supposed to be Mechagodzilla's eyes.
Probably the best Godzilla entrance ever!
When I slowed this scene down, it showed the house lighting up before Titanosaurus's foot crushed it.
Rip my head off this time why don't you?!
Toho's special effects mistakes involving Godzilla always seems to work out well on film in the end.
That's some good s**t man.
The next time you watch TOMG, look closely after Titanosaurus bites Godzilla's mouth and lifts him up in the air. You can actually see a tiny little drip (of blood?) drop out of Titanosaurus's bite marks on Godzilla's upper mouth, which I thought was a nice effect.
I love these fight scenes that were actually shot outside and not inside of Toho Studios.
Ever notice when Mechagodzilla shoots his revolving missiles, the missiles shoots out and down, not out and straight. Toho SPFX.
The famous "fake boobies" shot. Although I read about this scene growing up, I never saw this scene until the mid 90's when I got the Japanese version of TOMG on video as it was never shown on broadcast TV.
The Dynamic Duo.
See you in 9 years. I'm being forced into semi-retirement.
