Yeah that's pretty much how I feel about it too. Normally trailer leaks are in the style of that second teaser, shaky, cam-corded footage with bad audio that someone has sneakily filmed somewhere where they very clearly weren't supposed to. I can't remember any other time when we've had a proper, official HD-quality "leak" like this that was obviously taken directly from the source footage rather than filmed off-screen.

Plus the other little things like the Akira Takarada account it was first posted under and the original "Fatman" name, which on their own could certainly just be dismissed as the work of a fan, but taken with the really good quality of the teaser just leads me to believe it was done intentionally. Hell, even Gareth Edwards said at this year's Comic-Con that he was actually disappointed the teaser didn't leak last year. So it doesn't seem at all far-fetched to me that it was done intentionally.

It may have more to do with respecting the wishes of the family... or it could be the family gave permission to LP because the album had themes regarding the fear of nuclear war, which the family might have taken more seriously than what may have seemed to them a sequel to Gino 98.

True. I don't think Legendary and WB really care about using the quote in trailers. But they still have the "money, money, money" to get it if they really wanted to.

Everyone talks about Akira Watanabe like it's one person, and while I understand there was a dude named that, it seems like a bit of a stretch.

Seems much more likely (to me) the reference was a combination of Akira Takarada and Ken Watanabe.

I wouldn't think the reason was because of Oppenheimer's quote, but of Ligeti's music. Legiti's music is still in copywright and 2001: A Space Odyssey's director, Stanley Kubrick was sued by Ligeti because he willingly used his music without his permission. I wouldn't be surprised if Ligeti's lawful attorney wants a handsome sum.
