So something that clicked a little better for me the most recent time I watched this:

The double-event happened sooner than Gottlieb had thought it would. They also more or less bee-line for Hong Kong.
It just kinda hit me better that Newt's drift with the kaiju brain sped up the aliens' plans, and they suddenly knew that there was someone out there who knew a little bit more about them; a threat. They also knew he was going to go to Hong Kong next (they seem to know more about us than we do about them), so they ramped up their plans and sent a couple of kaiju to go make sure Newt was killed.

It hit home a little better this time, but I still feel it could have been better explained/exposed in the film itself to make the point a little clearer. Newt drifting with the kaiju brain is a BIG deal, and maybe should have been played up as a big deal a little bit more.
Gills.

I just finished watching this for the second time. I enjoyed more this time around...everything was much easier to see...

For whatever reason I also liked the characters a ton more.

Hoping we get to see PR2 at some point.

Lastly, all the stores I went to were sold out of the Blu Ray I wanted - that is a good sign.

My family rented Pacific Rim on DVD for my young cousin who has, through my influence, become quite a giant monster fan. When he first saw Gipsy Danger he asked if "space monkeys" had built it. Meaning the aliens from Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla and Terror of MechaGodzilla. He is convinced that they are responsible for pretty much all giant robots.

As for myself, I think I like it a little better than I did the first two times. I think Guillermo is the film's greatest strength and his eye for detail and passion drives the entirety of the movie.
