Got a couple in.
Halloween 3- On the brand new Blu-Ray from Shout Factory, which was a great buy. I really dig this movie. It has the obvious British influence coming in from Nigel Kneale, who created the Quatermass stuff. What do you get when you blend Nigel Kneale, John Carpenter and Tommy Lee Wallace together to come up with a screenplay? You get a very Quatermass-esque plot, as well as a lot of Lovecraftian stuff going on. It has a very dark mood and some great satire on American consumerism, which is all JC. And you get a good helping of comic booky stuff like cyborgs via Wallace. Watching it, it really wasn't hard to pick out what parts were likely written by each person. Also, Carpenter's score on here is a real winner... one of his moodiest. If only the series continued in this direction... its depressing how unjustly maligned this movie is. I think it makes a good companion to Carpenter's Apocalypse trilogy also.
Black Sabbath- The Mario Bava classic. I've seen this before, but I kept drifting in and out of sleep cuz I'm always tired these days.
