Tonight my good friends had a Halloween party and it was the first one that I can say I've been too. I dressed up as a hunter/outdoorsmen. I had fun it was great talking to a friend I hadn't seen since she left work and just joking around with my other friends.

I've been trying to devise a costume for this year, since for the past few years I've been really lame, and have either painted myself up to look black metal or doing a really easy cosplay of Kyo Kusanagi. I feel slightly more ambitious this time. Part of me wants to find either a Gundam mask (to go 'Gundam Style') or a Dredd helmet. The other part of me recognizes that I'm not getting any younger or sexier, and feels compelled to go as Poison from Final Fight. It's a bit troublesome.

Got a couple in.

Halloween 3- On the brand new Blu-Ray from Shout Factory, which was a great buy. I really dig this movie. It has the obvious British influence coming in from Nigel Kneale, who created the Quatermass stuff. What do you get when you blend Nigel Kneale, John Carpenter and Tommy Lee Wallace together to come up with a screenplay? You get a very Quatermass-esque plot, as well as a lot of Lovecraftian stuff going on. It has a very dark mood and some great satire on American consumerism, which is all JC. And you get a good helping of comic booky stuff like cyborgs via Wallace. Watching it, it really wasn't hard to pick out what parts were likely written by each person. Also, Carpenter's score on here is a real winner... one of his moodiest. If only the series continued in this direction... its depressing how unjustly maligned this movie is. I think it makes a good companion to Carpenter's Apocalypse trilogy also.

Black Sabbath- The Mario Bava classic. I've seen this before, but I kept drifting in and out of sleep cuz I'm always tired these days.

We decided to hold off on Moonraker and watched The Lost Boys. It was decent. I probably would have liked it more had I grown up watching it as others have, but for what it was, it was not bad. I did like how they did not reveal that they were vampires until halfway through the movie, so that was well done. However, I will NOT touch the sequels.
