Whenever I end up with a defective figure, I do my best to either receive a replacement parts/figure or return it if possible rather than settle for the crap lot I drew. Seeing as you're in Japan right now ebirahsmeg1, couldn't you contact Bandai about the issues you're having? I've received a replacement figure body through them (via Hobby Search) when the body of one of my SH Figuarts wasn't up to snuff.
Nothing excuses the fact that you got a crappy figure, but getting a fixed replacement figure could make all the difference.
klen7, Sakai did a lot of Showa sculpting for that one diorama line whose name I've forgotten right now, so I wouldn't expect that book to reflect solely on what it's possible for him to do. Besides, it's going to be Bandai's call on where the line goes next, not his.
