I'm kind of surprised that there seem to be so many who don't have region free players. I mean, if you own a cheapo sub-$50 DVD player, it more than likely can be hacked (usually very easily) and many of them will do PAL - NTSC conversion no problem.

Heck, my old region free player died recently. I did about 5 minutes of research online to find a new one, stopped in Best Buy the next time I was out, & came home with a new one that works just great for $40.

And the R3 (hong kong) and R4 (Australia) discs are SUPER cheap and easy to get.

As a person whom did own the semi-bootleg (Alpha Video) release of Godzilla Vs Megalon, I can now say that I don't own it anymore (sold it when this DVD was first announced). Not like it was a good DVD or anything.
In fact it looked like somebody had put the full-screen dub-only VHS on a DVD and slapped some chapter stops & a disc menu.

Ever since that incident (with the crappy quality) I avoid any & all Bootlegs like the plague. I also try to support the Region 1 companies, so I don't care about getting cheap R3/R4 DVDs.

Still no action on the Amazon front (still no shipment).
Is that box (that KPA posted) a sample box, or is that for them to ship out?

I think pretty much anyone who's in Region 1 supports R1 releases when they're available. But in some cases (like, until recently, DAM, Megalon, Biollante, etc.) there wasn't a legitimate R1 release. So what were you to do if you wanted to own the film?

You could buy a bootleg (boo), or buy the legitimate R3 and R4 releases. And they are usually much better quality than bootlegs too. You had to be a little choosy with the R3's but the R4's are basically direct ports of Toho's domestic DVDs but with English subtitles. Nthe fact that their legal was the important thing. Being cheap was just a bonus.

And the only reason I'm sticking with my R4 of Megalon instead of buying this is b/c I want to hold out for the bluray. I happily replaced my DAM R4 with the Media Blasters bluray. I don't want to double dip for a DVD then a bluray shortly thereafter for the same thing. And since I've got the Madman disc, I'm willing to take the risk of not getting is DVD and then the bluray never coming out. I hope it does though.

I used to have a R0 Player but I can't remember what I did with it. I think I might have sold it back in 2004/2005 when I got laid off with a back injury from work to help pay bills.

I've thought about getting a new one but I just don't have the space for it right now plus I don't have any import DVDs and don't plan on getting any.
