It is easily one of the best scores in a horror movie ever.

Hmm...Goblin and Carpenter really have made most of the iconic horror movie scores. Carpenter I knew of, but I never realized how many movies Goblin scored.

Horror movies scores not done by either of them that I still like would have to include Alien and Cronnenberg's The Fly, hell most Cronnenberg movies have excellent scores.

Speaking of Cronnenbery, have you seen Dead Ringers? The Fly, The Brood, Scanners and Videodrome get a lot of love but I prefer Dead Ringers to Scanners or The Brood honestly. Scanners is ok, but it's iconic for the fx, and well, Michael Ironside.

I dream of a buddy cop movie featuring Michael Ironside and Ron Perlman lol. The villain would be Gary Busey naturally and the film would have to be directed by Takashi Miike

13 Assassins

Amazing samurai film from last year, and my first Takashi Miike film (yes, I know - I'm late to the party). It's in many ways the archetypal samurai film in the Seven Samurai mold: small group of heroes against overwhelming odds, but phenomenally executed. Tsuyoshi Ihara plays a badass samurai, pretty far from his rather domestic character in Gamera GOTU.

I recently watched Beginners with Ewan McGreggor as a guy who's still mourning the death of his father when he meets a cute French girl at a costume party. This movie was cute and sweet.

Also Lars von Trier's Melancholia about a depressed woman (Kirsten Dunst) who's trying to hold it together on her wedding day, while her logical, no-nonsense sister (Charlotte Gainsbourg) starts to lose her calm cool as a planet called Melancholia comes closer to Earth. She's afraid it's going to smash into Earth and destroy us, while her sister seems to want to bring on the end of the world with enthusiasm. I really enjoyed this film and it's portrayals of depression and anxiety were dead on! There was also some stunning, beautiful visuals and scenes.

Cedar Rapids- It was interesting movie starring Ed Helms. Not really sure what to think of it I mean I didn't hate but I didn't think it was really anything special.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park- Finally got around to watching my BD and man this film doesn't hold up well at all; the CG was REALLY dated and the whole film just felt long and drawn out.

Beowulf

I like this movie a lot. One of my favorite fantasy movie ever, right after Dragonslayer, and it's still one of my favorite 3D movie going experiences ever.

Iron Man/Iron Man 2

I never really read comic books as a kid; they didn't really interest me. When this (and other comic book-based movies) came out, I had absolutely no desire to see any of them. A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine showed me Captain America: The First Avenger, and I got interested. Soon after, I learned of the new Avengers movie that is coming out, so I thought it would be a good idea to see the other movies related to that. I couldn't find The Incredible Hulk or THOR, but I found these. I really got into them. I loved Robert Downey Jr., and Gwyneth Paltrow was incredibly beautiful. I can't really think of any actors that stood out as being bad in either of the two movies, and the stories were interesting. I'm glad I bought them.
