I got an e-mail back, and it was largely a cut-and-paste response written for people who disliked the subs on the first DVD: signs and televisions not being subtitled. The e-mail said this was a conscious decision to make the subtitles read smoother and not clutter up the screen when there was a lot of stuff going on in a scene.
I sent a reply clarifying that I wasn't complaining about those translation decisions, but rather several bona-fide subtitle errors on the disc.
