Prejudice can cloud one's opinions. You're reading way too much into this, Jelly. Seriously. G-Fest is probably one of the smallest conventions I've participated in, so I'm not looking for any bragging rights, just because I was asked by a personal friend (Jeff) for some advice. All I did was say that Jeff's got some cool stuff in the pipeline â€” there's nothing veiled about that, except to generate some interest in what he's doing. Making claims of elitism, just reeks of knee-jerking.

And another thing, the comparison of convention advertising then-and-now is not "weak", it's historical fact. Fans today are just spoiled and think that everything should be handed to them on a silver platter or they will complain and bash it. It's the Burger King "Have It Your Way" mentality. Are you even going to G-Fest?

Again, if you don't like it â€” talk to Jeff. It's his show, not mine. Most people outside of G-Fandom have NEVER heard of G-Fest â€” believe it or not...

When you go to a theater you expect to see a film. That really isn't an unreasonable thing to expect. Toho has most of these movies available for rental, correct? Other shows/film festivals use them, don't they? That sort of thing seems to constantly be happening on the west coast. I just think - regardless of the reason - that the premiere Western convention celebrating the star of a film franchise not using actual prints for it's screenings is pretty weak. If it's the Pickwick that's the one giving the trouble and refusing the use prints then, well, maybe it's time to move on. Honestly, being sentimental about old-time movie theaters isn't a valid enough excuse to make people pay to watch DVDs they probably have at home.
