From Collider:
HEAT VISION EXCLUSIVE:
[quote]Carl Rinsch is no longer attached to direct Logan’s Run.
The Warner Bros. sci-fi project, a fresh adaptation of the 1967 novel by William F. Nolan that was made into a 1976 feature, had Rinsch on board to direct but the commercial director has left the project to devote his energies on Universal’s 47 Ronin.
Both projects were vying to be the feature debut for the director, a hot commercial helmer who only became more in-demand after directing sci-fi short The Gift.
But Ronin pulled ahead in recent weeks when Universal, slotting in a November 21, 2012 release date, became a go picture. Ronin also has concept art drawn up and has begun scouting.
(Ronin, with Keanu Reeves attached to star, is based on the true story of 47 Ronin, samurai swordsmen who avenged the death of their master in 18th century Japan.)
Run has always attracted high-profile filmmakers and visionaries, who have been magnetized by the hook of a future society where people are executed upon reaching a certain age and those that seek to avoid their fate are deemed “runners.â€
