I decided against The Divine Comedy, as a couple of pages in I was made painfully aware that my grasp of poetry of seriously lacking.
However, I did get a few interesting books for Christmas, including Born to Run by Christopher McDougall, which I've already finished. I'm not an athletic sort, and I generally don't take any interest in the subject, but I saw the author discussing it on the Daily Show and my interest was piqued. There's something fascinating about a hidden tribe of nonviolent superathletes that have been around since the time of the Mayans. I definitely recommend checking it out.
I'm now a few chapters into Howard Zinn's A People's History of the United States. Quite a refreshing (and exhaustive) look at the nation's history.
