So I found the Mechagodzilla yesterday at TRU. Not a bad figure really, probably one of the best toys in this entire line, and mainly for the fact that we don't have a 6" Bandai '74 Mechagodzilla in the Japanese line. So this is actually a figure that doesn't seem incredibly redundant to me. The detail on this figure is really nice, although I think they overdid it with the "rubber" texturing. I don't recall the original 1974 Mechagodzilla costume being that pinched and rubbery looking. The colors, while very well done and appealing, would look more appropriate on the '75 version of Mechagodzilla.

Still, this is a really nice looking toy and whoever sculpted it really tried hard to make it look cool. While the rubbery surface detail is overdone, it's still shows terrific attention to detail that godawful figures like the BC Hedora lack. I also spotted an incredible little detail on one of the back fins that shows that the person who sculpted this thing obviously did his homework. There's a small notch that's been carved out of the bottom of one of the fins (fourth from the top, middle) that matches one on the actual suit. Impressive.

But I still don't like those damn arms! The right one I can live with since it's sort of pointing forward, but the left one is just weird. This is otherwise such an outstanding figure. But the pose just compromises it so much. Shame.

I was able to find First Godzilla on Black Friday (No Mechagodzilla '74, sadly. No Gigan, either, but I'm too upset about that one). It's a pretty great figure, and beats the hell out of the original BC Godzilla '54. It's much more realistic and animated looking, and the dorsal fins inparticular look great. The tail's a bit longer than G54's was (it looks more Heisei length), but that's not really a problem.

Overall, a really nice figure. Probably among BC's best. Here's hoping I can find Mechagodzilla sometime soon.

You may want to check your local comic shop this week, as Diamond has "GODZILLA 11-IN COLLECTIBLE FIGURE 2009" and "GODZILLA 6-IN COLLECTIBLE FIGURE 2009" listed in their .

Pics as requested.

Bandai Creation did a great job this time! My only complaint is the inner wing not having the veins colored in blue. The tail doesn't bother me that much as it's unique and in a fighting stance pose. Also, people who picked up their Gigans got ones with messed up mandibles. All of Gigans I got have the correct mandibles and one of them has a bigger open mouth than the rest. Makes him look extra fierce!

Santa Came Early

My friend gave me my Christmas present today so that I would not buy one if I found it. He got it at our local TRU on Black Friday. No evidence of the other two new ones at all.
