I just got home about a half hour ago. Next year's will also be held Independence Day weekend.
No, there are no plans to move the convention. The hotel is going to undergo remodeling next spring, so it may not be recognizable.
All conventions have their snafus, we're no different. We had a meeting after the convention ended and went over what went right and what did not.
The problem with
Biollante was the theater's fault this time. They have a Samsung player and some video experts have told us (after the fact) that Samsung is notorious for having problems with dual-layered discs. We had three back-ups and all had the same problem with the theater's machine but they all worked fine on the machines of Jeff Horne and John Schuerman. We should have had a back-up machine there, obviously.
I'll defer to Jeff Horne to answer questions in detail, if he chooses.
The only other problem was
Godzilla Zero Hour and I don't know what happened there. The principals will have to be the ones to address that.
I was very pleased at the outpouring of affection for Mr. Nakajima at the luncheon (and the convention in general). If there was ever a man who deserved the "Mangled Skyscaper," he's the one. I am glad we were able to present it to him as he's still well enough to enjoy it.
All you attendees were great!
