So that's what's wrong with the Bandai Creation GMK Goji. The way the neck tapers off way too quickly instead of a more natural transition. I know collectors like Mike could see these things more obviously, but I don't have that trained eye for detail and suit alterations. Nice set of GMK Godzilla there!

And sorry, this post is more to fix the "no posts exist for this topic" error threads of this length generate after a while and a new page is made.

I got another figure on my Marmit want list yesterday. It's their Monster Heaven Mechagodzilla 2 figure from 2004. I had passed it up several times because I always figured it couldn't possibly top Marmit's original MH Mechagodzilla, which placed second in the MG Vinyl Figure poll last year (topped only by the giant size version of the same toy) Besides, how could any MG2 figure possible compare to Bandai's?

Well now that I finally have this figure I actually like it quite a bit. It's darker than the original Marmit MG, lacks the bright yellow paint and doesn't have that distracting seam around the base of the neck. They were even able to somehow design the texture of the "metal" body to look slightly worn. I don't know if it was intentional or not but it's a nice touch. Even the vinyl between each finger/missel has been carved out for a very nice, realistic appearance. I still think the Bandai is a better figure overall, but this may be my personal favorite of the two.

This one is for M-1 fans...

Today I finally got my M-1 lucky bag Titanosaurus that was sent away for a painting service this past spring. Beautiful figure. I love the paint.

Got this Monster Heaven Space Gyaos today. Cool figure.
Image

Even for a figure put out in 2003, this Gyaos is miles ahead of the old 1997 Vinyl Paradise Space Gyaos. I still like the older figure though.

I think the pictures speak for themselves, althought the figure is really much cooler looking in person.

Additionally here's the figure with the black Toy Fest version...

With Marmit's MH Megalon...

And in battle with the Megalon and Mh 1973 Godzilla.

That is one awesome Gigan.

Honestly, that could be the best I've ever seen, and if you say it's better in person, it probably is. Definitely a standard-setter.

It's probably one of the last movies I'd choose to watch, but Gigan does make for a cool toy.

I don't care how much I've spent lately.

I already sent the other Mike a message!

EDIT: And excuse me Mike, but how can you post a gallery and comparison pics of the Gigabrain without it side-by-side with the Monster Heaven figure?! Shame on you!

Thanks to Chiller Theater...

And if anyone out there is thinking of going, I would recommend it. A good selection of Godzilla stuff available, including the BIG Megahouse '54 Goji  . While I didn't get the chance to see the actual figure, the box by itself was mighty impressive! All in all, definately a good Chiller.

Some people even use little plastic baggies. I use the baseball card protectors. I snip out an area for the tag hook to hang out (you shouldn't stuff it into the protector or it might break) and just tape the ends shut. Some people use staples to close the ends, but in my experience this isn't a great idea, especially if you want to remove the tag at any point in the future.

That Gigabrain Gigan is really sweet looking. I admit that I wasn't all that blown away with it when it first came out, but now that I see it in this "accurate" color scheme he looks great!

Right now I'm all doped up on percocet but when I get a chance I'll post pictures of the new batch of translucent Marmit and Gigabrain figures I got yesterday.

EDIT: Ok I took a few quick pictures. I'm feeling a bit better but this recovery process is still going to take a little while. I'll get back on the Vinyl Figure Awards as soon as I can.

First up are Marmit translucent Superfest exclusives of the 1971 Godzilla and 2004's MH Hedora figure. The Hedora is nothing to get all excited about but the glitter embedded in the vinyl is pretty cool. I'd like the Godzilla more if someone had checked their references better and placed the damaged eye and hand on the correct sides of the figure. Marmit has forgotten to include these details on all their 1971 Godzillas and when they finally decide to add them they do it incorrectly. It figures, right? Still, they're pretty cool toys and I'm glad they didn't cancel them after all.

Gigabrain never ceases to amaze me, which makes sense now that I know they're a subsidiary of Marmit. Even when they're just doing exclusives they impress me to no end. The 1965 Godzilla isn't my favorite Gigabrain figure, but I must admit that these two translucent figures are really cool. I especially like the purple figure, which works better with the blue, red and gold paint than the green version does. But I'm glad I have both figures.

And finally here are two more exclusives of my favorite kaiju figure of 2007, and we all know which figure that is. Gigabrain can really do no wrong when it comes to this Gigan figure, and I plan on buying any and all variants of it they end up putting out. I don't know which color I like more, but they both work well. I'm dying to know if Gigabrain has any new sculpts in store.

Ok thats all for tonight. When's my next percocet dose?
