How cool is this?

RAY VISITIING THE GRINDHOUSE SET!!!

Oh and by the way, for anyone interested Eli Roth has announced that after he makes Stephen King's Cell, he is going to do a movie of all fake trailers called Trailer Trash. He compared it to Kentucky Fried Movie, only with fake horror/b-movie trailers. Edgar Wright is already on board to direct some, and he'll probably have plenty of other guest directors (you can bet Quentin and Rodriguez will be doing some).

As much as I hate Eli Roth and his stupid movies, this sounds promising... Thanksgiving is the best thing he's ever done and it blows away his lame full length movies, so I hope this is good.

Some good news:

http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/06/21/247 ... -november/

Death Proof is slated to hit DVD on September 18th (presumably Planet Terror as well), and a 4-disc, 247-minute (4 hours and 7 minutes) cut of the complete Kill Bill will be released on November 6th, called "Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair" -- just in time for DDD's fall sale!

(Hot Fuzz gets released on July 31st. :D )

Well, it looks like we'll be getting separate DVD releases, a month apart from each other, with the missing reels put in and NO fake trailers (Edgar Wright has even confirmed this according to Horrormovies.ca).. and they are $30 each.

I liked the movies, but I liked it as a homage to double features and the Grindhouse experience, which these DVDs completely ruin. As movies, I didn't like them separatley enough to justify spending $60 on crappy, butchered DVDs.

To me, this doesn't even make sense. They want to make back the money they lost from its box office failure, but the average Joe who missed the movie in the theater isn't gonna walk by DVDs of Planet Terror or Death Proof and have any idea what the hell they even are. However, if the average Joe walks by a DVD of Grindhouse, he could say "Oh, yeah I remember this thing... I never got to see it" and pick it up. The only people crazy enough to buy both movies in a butchered format at ridiculous prices are the people that already saw it in the theater... and many of them, like myself, are boycotting these releases.

Screw it. I'm not even gonna bother with these.

Death Proof just got released yesterday, and now Vanishing Point just shot back up to #451 in 's DVD sales ranking again. It first skyrocketed in sales back in April when GRINDHOUSE opened.

Death Proof is #12 and Planet Terror pre-orders are #10.

I'll wait for Grindhouse like I'm waiting for The Whole Bloody Affair version of Kill Bill.

Suit yourselves, y'all. I already have the entire GRINDHOUSE in MP4 format on my iPod, and I've watched the individual movies in addition to the whole thing enough times over the past few months to warrant purchasing DVD-quality versions that are bigger than 3 inches across. I thought both movies were fantastic on their own, but I do prefer the entire GRINDHOUSE together, which is why I hope sales of the individual releases are strong enough to warrant a double-dip of the complete package. In the meantime, the individual flicks, bonus features, and iPod-sized GRINDHOUSE can tide me over. (Y'all check your PMs by the way.)

But just to clarify, while Tarantino and Rodriguez did indeed know that they'd be putting their flicks together to make the double-feature, they weren't made so that they wouldn't work on their own. Tarantino said about having to put them together once they were both finished, "me and Robert had to cut our films to the bone, past the bone, to make it work for the whole double-feature experience. It's interesting to be in that situation and see if your movie can still survive, and it did." When Tarantino submitted Death Proof to Cannes, nobody forced him to reinstate the 20-30 minutes of footage he had originally excised. It's because this is Tarantino's true cut of the movie in itself, and the same goes for Rodriguez's full-length Planet Terror.

And as said before, it's not known what will happen with Planet Terror's picture yet, but Death Proof is definitely NOT cleaned up for this release. The picture is the same as it was in GRINDHOUSE, and I'd put money on Planet Terror looking the same as well.
