Wow.....psychologically speaking, I know why this has become huge: people want to find the entire puzzle solved so they can be sure of what it is, because the questions are burning in the back of their mind. I've seen so many posts on the subject, I wouldn't be surprised if some people went insane trying to figure it all out. Paramount's use of viral advertising really works, and based on the spread of this on the 'net, I'm anxious to see what other trick they're gonna pull out next.
This is on the ppulation control spectrum of milking the populace. One one end, we have companies like Disney and their never-ending slew of teeny-bopper "High School Musical" Mafiosos tearing up the airwaves, and on the other, you have "Ethanhasswasright/wrong.com"s and "Cloverfield". They each get the audiences's attention, but harbor A LOT of subconscious thought.
Anyways, enough psychological blabber, I haven't even seen this thing yet(
I just HAD to go to the bathroom during this one didn't I?), so I can't really give my view on it....
BTW, to the folks who believe this is Voltron.....

:lmfao:
Please stop dreaming. Dreamworks/Paramount will TELL YOU it's Voltron(
last I heard, one of them has it, and will release it in 2009-2010) because they don't devote psychological time to special effects blockbusters, and deprive our brains of substance and ideals; in other words, if it is what it is, it'll be all over their advertising. They want you to see it an not actually think about what it is before it happens.
I'm seriously considering this sort of thing for my super sentai film......Though of course, no one's gonna know what it is 'til it hits them.
