You can't really blame Marvel for how the movies turned out - back in the late 80s early 90s Marvel went bankrupt. And to stay solvent they sold long term movie rights to anyone interested. Which is how Columbia-Tristar {owned by Sony} ended up with Spider-Man., the X-Men and the Fantastic Four at Fox, and Paramount has Iron-Man.

At least some movie rights are starting to revert back to Marvel - which is why Captain America is first up for big screen treatment at Marvel's new movie & animation division.

Did anyone read this week's one-shot Civil War: the Initiative someone mentioned it over at my regular forums and posted this...

...wherein Ms. Marvel tells Spider-Woman that Cap isn't dead. He's been secretly transported to the Raft, where "THEY" are trying to save his life. But they're letting the world think he's dead. Since the assassination attempt was a joint venture between Dr. Faustus and the Red Skull's host body, it's a plan based on reasonable assumptions.

Just another ridiculous move in a long list of recent terrible moves Marvel has made. Civil War has been a total debacle. Let's see what we've been given in recent years...

-Gwen Stacy found Norman Osborn to be sexually magnetic and had super quick growing babies with him which she gave birth to within a matter of weeks.

-Peter Parker decides that the best way to protect his family and friends is to reveal his secret identity to the public and to all of his most hated enemies.

-Chuck Austen dredges up the "Hank Pym- Wifebeater" storyline without any warning or build, and has Hawkeye cheat on his friend by doing the horizontal mambo with the Wasp. All this after Kurt Busiek had worked leaps and bounds to get Hank and the Wasp back together- the logical outcome to those two characters who're barely going to ever be used. Might as well have them together and get a happy ending. Instead, Austen gives us complete mischaracterization.

-On second thought, pretty much anything I've read or heard of Chuck Austen. My cousin has horror stories about what he was doing on X-Men.

-Hawkeye gets killed in Bendis' stupid Avengers Disassembled arc.

-The House of M arc of which I'm still not really sure of the importance of.

-As of Civil War: Tony Stark- evil short-sighted billionaire who'll gladly imprison his allies. Reed Richards- Shallow, wife ignoring fiend working in conjuction with Stark. Thor- Evil Clone.

-And now Cap's dead for a few months... Am I forgetting anything?

Does anyone else listen to Kajagoogoo's "Too Shy" and think of "Save the Earth?"

Joe Quesada and Bendis both care nothing for the decades-old characters they've been entrusted with, only for their own fleeting fame.

And good call on Hal Jordan.

I posted some previously - if you're feeling brave check my previous post in this thread {just look for the big red text}

This image is currently gracing the front page of http://www.Marvel.com - perhaps a clue to why a certain character was seen with a piece of Captain America's uniform...

Last Friday a TPB & cover image hit Amazon's and Barnes & Noble's websites [the images have been removed and Amazon's entry is gone].

But the cover image was saved and has spread around - I saw it on today on CAUTION - SPOILERS AT THAT LINK
