James was a good man. He seemed like a guy whom anyone could sit down with, and in five seconds, immediately have a friendship (barring Klingons, of course) with. Whenever he was in a scene in the first series or in the movies, he pretty much stole the show. Whether decking Klingons or mourning his nephew's sacrifice, James could reach into the audience and warm their hearts. Even a simple scene in Relics, just sitting around Jean-Luc and drinking, you could see it as a kindly, old grandfather relating to the generation that would carry on his work.
Even though we may never see him marching in another Scotish Pride parade or a new Trek, we can still see his legacy and remeber the happiness he brought us.
On behalf of all those whose veins run with the blood of Scotish warriors, I salute you James and I wish you happiness now that your trek is over.
God Bless James Doohan and his loved ones
