^^I didn't mean to scare anyone with that percentage.....I think it's a bit too much....
I think more like 35-40%, with some CG used in shots only to enhance the action, not take it over.
I think it'll be used to give Gamera emotion, or animate places or things that need it, like Irys was in the third movie.
I spoke with my contact again, rather briefly, and she's heard talk that some CG's been
finished, and that it looks beautiful. According to *other people* a huge aerial battle between the Gaos and the JSDF takes place
during the opening credits....but that has only been seen in storyboards. What
HAS supposedly been seen in CG, is Gamera against a marroon-red colored monster in mid-air. My contact hasn't seen anything, just heard, but she admits her sources are reliable.
Also, she's heard rumors that Kaneko will be involved in this new movie, though to what extent, is still to be seen. Whether signed on as producer, effects supervisor, or assistant director, he'll be in there somewhere. Also there's reportly talks that someone who's reportly read the script, says that someone from the original trilogy will die in this movie, as a foreshadow of things to come......Now that one has me a bit skeptic....and shocked.
Who's the likely candidate to get the axe? What'll it prove in this movie, and why would it be a "foreshadow"? Unless of course, the movie follows "G4: The Truth" and the new evil anti-hero Gamera takes over for the fallen "hero" Gamera....
Regardless, I think there's hope in this movie. Honestly, I want them to take their time, even if it comes out fall 2006. If they rush it, it'll fall flat against other movies.
Oh, and just to spur a bit of disccussion:
I asked if she'd heard of a K-D version of
Daimajin coming out in the near future and she confirmed it's in the works, listed for tentative release next year with no exact release date. Also, that there's a gloomy manga cover poster in the legal offices, she says, of a giant evil-looking statue amidst the skyscrapers of downtown tokyo, below a massive thunderstorm......So take that bit of info as a grain of salt for now.....
