While the film did end up earning $369 million worldwide, it was mostly bypassed by American audiences in favor of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, GODZILLA, MALEFICENT, 22 JUMP STREET and THE FAULT OF OUR STARS. EDGE OF TOMORROW comes to home video this week, giving moviegoers another chance to catch one of the best movies from the 2014 "summer blockbuster" season.

Solidly directed by Doug Liman (SWINGERS, THE BOURNE IDENTITY), EDGE OF TOMORROW is adapted from the Japanese novel All You Need Is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Tom Cruise stars as William Cage, a military public affairs officer who is drafted into a major offensive against an invading alien force. The Earth forces are quickly wiped out and Cage is killed, only to suddenly reawaken the day before the battle with full memory of what is to come. Cage relives the battle over and over, but with training from war hero Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt) begins to develop the skills that may eventually allow him to survive long enough to uncover the way to victory over the aliens. The supporting cast includes Bill Paxton (ALIENS), Brendan Gleeson (BRAVEHEART). Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is releasing EDGE OF TOMORROW in multiple formats: a three disc Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack (SRP: $44.95), two disc Blu-ray Combo Pack (SRP: $35.99), DVD (SRP: $28.98) and Digital HD, with packaging emphasizing the film`s "Live Die Repeat" tagline. The Blu-ray editions present the main feature with top-quality 1080p HD picture and DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 audio. Supporting the film are over an hour of bonus features, highlighted by the 43 minute-long documentary ON THE EDGE WITH DOUG LIMAN, in which the director provides an overview of the making of the film. Also included are a trio of shorter featurettes focusing on specific areas of the production: STORMING THE BEACH (12 minutes) covers the beach assault the occupies much of the film`s first hour; WEAPONS OF THE FUTURE (8 minutes) looks and the design and creation of the (rather clunky) battle suits featured in the movie; and CREATURES NOT OF THIS WORLD (6 minutes) does the same for the villainous alien Mimics. Rounding out the package are 8 minutes of deleted scenes. There are no trailers or audio commentary. The EDGE OF TOMORROW Blu-ray editions are highly recommended.
