Founded by Ron Blessinger, Ann Medellin, and Danny Rosenberg – three Portland artists working at the edges of music, animation, and storytelling – House of Scordatura brings together original animation and experimental music, all created, composed, and performed by Oregon artists. The group is taking the 1971 cult kaiju classic GAMERA VS. ZIGRA and turning it into a full-contact performance event—part concert, part stage show, part cinematic joyride. A live ensemble performs an original score in tight sync with the film, while onstage performers, theatrical mayhem, and analog wizardry collide with the screen. Think of it as a love letter to practical effects, rubber suits, and the strange magic that happens when a movie becomes a live, breathing thing in the room with you. So show up ready for monster mayhem, musical punchlines, and the kind of communal laughter you only get in a packed theater.
It’s Gamera. It’s Zigra. It’s the Hollywood Theatre. Come for the kaiju carnage—stay for the live score and the beautiful chaos.
There will be three GAMERA VS. ZIGRA screenings, held on Friday, June 12th at 7:00PM and on Saturday, June 13th at 1:00 PM and 7:00PM. Tickets prices are $35 for adults, $25 for students/seniors (65+)/children, and can be purchased online or at the Hollywood Theatre Box Office, which opens 30 minutes prior to the first showing of the day/evening.
