CJ Entertainment and Opus Pictures recently released a new trailer, behind-the-scenes clip and several new stills for HOWLING (???), a new thriller that opens February 9 in Korea. HOWLING is about a series of murders, presumably committed by a wolfdog, and two detectives who pursue the real culprit. Song Kang-ho, of MEMORIES OF MURDER (??? ??, Salinui chueok, 2003), THE HOST (??, Gwoemul, 2006), SECRET SUNSHINE (??, Milyang, 2007) and THIRST (??, Bakjwi, 2009) fame, stars as Cho Sang-gil, a veteran detective and Lee Na-young, who is well known for her starring roles in WHO ARE YOU? (???, 2002), SOMEONE SPECIAL (?? ??, Aneun yeoja, 2004) and MAUNDY THURSDAY (???? ??? ??, Urideul-ui haengbok-han shigan, 2006), plays Cha Eun-young, a rookie detective. The new trailer shows more about the characters and the plot. Sang-gil does not take the murder case too seriously at first, but Eun-young finds a canine teeth-mark on the burnt victim`s body and suspects it might not be an ordinary case. Sang-gil sarcastically ignores Eun-young`s opinion, but he, too, gradually delves himself into the case. They find that the victims were all acquaintances and the case will not be closed with just getting the wolfdog. The trailer ends with Eun-young`s dialogue - "How did the wolfdog become a killier dog?", which leaves some melancholy tastes. The behind-the-scenes clip mainly focuses on the two leads, introducing the respective characters and shows a variety of making-of footage. HOWLING is based on the Japanese novel The Hunter (????, Kogoeru Kiba, 1996) by Asa Nonami, which won Naoki Prize, one of the most prestigious literary awards of Japan. It is the new film by poet-turned-director Yoo Ha, whose filmography includes ONCE UPON A TIME IN HIGH SCHOOL (???? ???, Maljukgeori janhoksa, 2004), A DIRTY CARNIVAL (??? ??, Biyeolhan geori, 2006) and A FROZEN FLOWER (???, Ssang-hwa-jeom, 2008). CJ Entertainment and Opus Pictures have set up two official HOWLING Facebook pages; one for the character Sang-gil and the other for Eun-young. There is also an official Twitter page at twitter.com/howling2012.
