The year is 19XX, you are young again, and you and another kid that you used to call your “best friend” are in a titanic struggle for supremacy! An Aurora Godzilla model on one side, and an Aurora King Kong (or any one of your other Aurora Monster kits) on the other side, utilizing any number of toy tanks, jet planes, Hot Wheels cars, and LEGO structures to be demolished along the way. If you were like me, then the scenario above may bring back some cool childhood memories and probably some slightly disappointing ones as well, like the fact that we didn’t have any Giant Monster games or toys to play with back then. Some of us may have been lucky enough to have a beaten up copy of the old Godzilla Board game put out by Ideal in 1963, (yeah, right) but even this game had no “monsters” other than cardboard playing pieces, and even then it was just Godzilla. So, for those of us that would still like to have a cool, and exciting giant monster game to play, welcome to the year 2008, and the birth of MONSTERPOCALYPSE! MONSTERPOCALYPSE ushers in Privateer Press’ first journey into the realm of pre-painted CMG’s. CMG is short for Collectible Miniature Game. There are other CMG’s out there, but MONSTERPOCALYPSE is the very first dedicated to Giant Monsters, Giant Robots, Alien Invaders, and everything else that we wished we had to play with as kids! Also, from what I have seen and read about this game, it really looks like it is going to be a blast to play, and collect. Here is the latest information on MONSTERPOCALYPSE, courtesy of Privateer Press... _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ MONSTERPOCALYPSE The Monsterpocalypse is upon us! Attackers from beyond space and time or arising from beneath the lands and oceans have engulfed the world in catastrophic conflict! Cities are now battlegrounds for giant monsters and their hordes of minions, as they rampage through an urban landscape, leveling buildings, crushing obstacles, and fighting to achieve their own mysterious goals. MONSTERPOCALYPSE is a fast-moving, action-packed strategy game portraying the most fearsome giant monsters ever imagined! March your monster and a horde of minions through an urban landscape and crush everything in your path. Do battle with other monsters for control of your turf—throw them across a city, slam them into buildings, and suplex them into radioactive rubble! When you’re 20 stories high and can shoot lasers from your eyes, the world is yours to do with as you please. Reach out and CRUSH someone! Privateer Press has launched a special preview site for MONSTERPOCALYPSE, which will feature updates, artwork, coverage of playtesting sessions, and preview images of figures and game components. The site, Monsterpocalypse.com, will also issue news regarding events and organized play, as well as product release information. The coverage will be an ongoing countdown to the launch of the MONSTERPOCALYPSE CMG, set to release this fall, along with a comic book miniseries. The Collectible Miniatures Game

The MONSTERPOCALYPSE CMG brings the giant monster genre – a pop culture favorite – to the tabletop in the form of a fast-paced, action-packed game for two players ages 10 and up. Designed by Matt Wilson, the award-winning creator of WARMACHINE and HORDES, MONSTERPOCALYPSE leverages the critically acclaimed abilities of Privateer Press as a leading miniatures manufacturer to enter a new category of product with a property that appeals to a worldwide fan base of all ages. MONSTERPOCALYPSE features high-quality pre-painted plastic monsters, vehicles, and interactive city structures that impact and shape game play. The CMG will launch with over 60 figures in the initial set, sold in randomized starter sets and booster boxes. Special figures will be available at events and through other promotions throughout 2008. There will be a number of Factions you can choose to collect and play in MONSTERPOCALYPSE. The first two are: G.U.A.R.D.: In the defense of Earth and all humanity, G.U.A.R.D. (Globally United Advanced Research & Defense) has assembled the greatest scientific minds and most accomplished military leaders to develop the most technologically capable armed force the world has ever seen. Equipped with massive mechs, cutting edge air support, unparalleled ground support, and a dozen high tech installations around the globe, and in orbit, G.U.A.R.D. can deploy anywhere on Earth within minutes and go toe-to-toe with aggressors from any corner of the universe, and beyond.

Terrasaurs: These skyscraper-sized lizards have exploded from the depths of the South American jungles, bent on consuming industrial equipment and stomping on anything that bars their path. The largest of these Terrasaurs has been dubbed “Terra-Khan”. Wherever these Terrasaurs attack, the eco-terrorist group: Green Fury, led by spokesperson Ellie Pezuto appear to battle it out with any who resist the mighty reptiles and, of course, make sure the media nails a sensational cover story. The Comic Book Series Privateer Press and Across the Pond Studios have also teamed up to create a new comic miniseries, published by Desperado, introducing the world of giant monsters from the MONSTERPOCALYPSE Game. The complete three part miniseries launches this September. A preview Issue #0 will debut at Comic Con International San Diego this July. In addition, those who purchase all three issues of the miniseries will be eligible to receive a limited edition figure from the MONSTERPOCALYPSE CMG. Details on this promotion will be available online closer to the publication of the series, and in each issue. In addition to creative direction from Matt Wilson, the series credits include story by Stephan Nilson (Smallville and Batman Strikes), script by Jason Avery and Stephan Nilson, pencils by Karl Waller (X-Men and Motorhead), inks by Rick Bonilla (Atomik Mike), coloring by Barry Williams (Atomik Mike), and cover art supplied by the Privateer Press stable of artists. Wilson explained, “The opportunity to work with Across the Pond Studios on this comic series is a thrill! Every day, I’m seeing the fruits of their efforts, and it’s fantastic. Across the Pond is capturing all of the dynamic action of this giant fighting monster setting and weaving an engaging story into all of it that is sure to please the readers. Between this comic series and the MONSTERPOCALYPSE game, fans of giant monsters will have a lot to look forward to this fall.”
