SCI-FI REVOLTECH SERIES Waves 5 and 6 Plus HOBBY JAPAN EXCLUSIVE

The Latest Series Brings Two more Characters from Toho’s Tokusatsu Universe Plus an Exclusive Author: John “Dutch” DeSentis Official Site: kaiyodo.co.jp/revoltech The Kaiyodo Company`s Sci-Fi Revoltech series continues to bring great, super-articulated figures of popular science fiction characters to the hands of collectors. Thus far, the only Toho character represented has been the monster Baragon from Wave 2. Thankfully, that will change on September 1st, as a figure based on Mothra (1961 style) will join Mogera (1957 style). The previous month sees Buzz Lightyear and Woody from the Disney/Pixar TOY STORY movies. Reportedly the Tyrannosaurus Rex from JURASSIC PARK, Jason Vorhees from the FRIDAY THE 13TH series, and a Type-1966 Maser Tank from WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS will follow in the next few months. Paperwork included with the Gamera and Gyaos Revoltech figures listed Mothra as being series number 010, Woody and Buzz as 011 and 012 respectively, then Mogera and T-Rex as 013, and 014. But information from Kaiyodo’s website, as well as retailer solicitations and the packaging art, provided a different numbering for the figures. The most current figure numbers are listed below. Early photos show that these figures appear to be of the same great quality as the last couple of waves. Mothra will come with a Tokyo Tower and cocoon base. Mogera will come detailed with a Markalite Cannon, Mysterian Alien, and forest display base for the Markalite Cannon. Also newly released is a figure of GR2 from the series GIANT ROBO (and known as Torazon in the Americanized JOHNNY SOKKO AND HIS FLYING ROBOT), done as an exclusive with Hobby Japan Magazine. This figure comes with similar accessories as Giant Robo and will no doubt make a great companion piece. The inclusion (albeit somewhat strange) of Buzz and Woody in the lineup of Revoltech figures may have something to do with the release of the blockbuster hit TOY STORY 3 which was released on July 10th in Japan and will no doubt still be doing business by the time the toys hit the shelves. Sci-Fi Revoltech Wave 5 and 6 figures can be pre-ordered from online retailers, including SciFi Japan sponsor Anime Jungle in Los Angeles. Tell them we sent you!
