Many folks from all over the USA and abroad are headed to Whippany, NJ for a unique hobby and collectibles show called the “JerseyFest Model Kit & Statue Fair”. The big convention is open to the public and running from August 29th to the 30th at the Hanover Marriott Hotel.
The show features model kits, statues, collectibles and art for sale and display that celebrate fiction including movies, TV, fantasy, etc., especially monsters, comic books and science fiction. Those who attend JerseyFest can expect to see cool monsters and spaceships from many famous movies and TV shows, including ones from STAR WARS, STAR TREK, LORD OF THE RINGS, Marvel and DC Comics, classic horror movies, giant monster movies like Godzilla and King Kong, etc. Saturday, August 29th kicks off the vendor show, which starts at 10:00AM and goes to 5:00PM. It continues on Sunday from 10:00AM until 3:00PM. The vendor show is where all the “eye candy” is laid out in over 130 booths that will have loads of products for sale and display, plus lots of demos. Well known and reputable model producers and artists of all kinds are coming to Whippany for this event. During the vendor show, and included with the price of admission, will be various hour long demos and seminars occurring in separate conference rooms where attendees will get to learn secrets on how models are made to look so real. The show’s educational program includes expert presentations occurring all weekend long by renowned movie and TV special FX artists who worked on blockbuster movies. For example, there will be presentations from one of the main model makers for many of the STAR TREK movies and TV shows. The FX artist who created the creatures for the movies AVATAR, HELLBOY, 300, etc. and is from the TV show “Making Monsters” will be doing monster painting and sculpting demonstrations. And to top it off, the show will feature a model & art contest and exhibit with hundreds of painted model kits of all sizes and types on display. Contestants will compete for awards and prizes in numerous categories. Many of the greatest model painters in the world will be displaying their pieces for the contest. So, you don’t even have to be a model builder to enjoy this show. You just need to appreciate viewing artwork of great characters and spaceships and maybe have an interest in learning about how they were created. If you`re a collector and love statues, after attending JerseyFest you`ll think you`ve died and gone to heaven.
