LOOK EAST: KOREAN FILM FESTIVAL today announced the lineup of films for its first annual Hollywood celebration of Korean cinema. Taking place at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood , on June 23-24, the rising Korean film industry will be recognized with a series of new and classic films screened over the weekend, with the participation of several top actors and directors. Hyundai Motors/Auto serves as a lead festival sponsor. Ten films are currently confirmed including one the 3D version of the cult film THE HOST; two with live Q&A’s (A BITTERSWEET LIFE and PIERRE RISSIENT: MAN OF CINEMA); and two US premieres (FLOWER IN HELL and A HOMETOWN IN MY HEART). “For lovers of Korean cinema, and for those who have never experienced it, this festival offers a fantastic cross-section of films across more than six decades,” explains LOOK EAST: KOREAN FILM FESTIVAL founder Martha Chang. “We especially look forward to introducing these wonderful films to new audiences and hope to broaden the reach of the festival in years to come.” Marking the first time in its 85-year history, Asian performers will cast their hand and footprints in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Saturday, June 23, during the festival. They include Lee Byung-Hun an award-winning star who recently appeared as Storm Shadow in Paramount’s G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA and will be seen next year in the sequel, G.I. JOE: RETALIATION and has been cast in the upcoming RED 2, along with Ahn Sung-Ki, a veteran Korean star considered to be one of the most respected, influential actors in Asia who recently had great commercial success with UNBOWED. Filmmaker and influencer, Pierre Rissient will also be recognized at the Opening Ceremony taking place on the same day.
